August 11, 200322 yr Here are the #'s: Loaiza, Mulder, Halladay, Moyer The numbers dont lie! E-Lo for Cy Young!
August 11, 200322 yr So far, it should be a no brainer for Loaiza. But it's only August 10th. Lot of baseball left to play.
August 11, 200322 yr If Loaiza gets 20 wins and has the better ERA than Mulder the Cy Young is his. Mulder will win it if Loaiza doesn't win 20 though. Mulder has more respect from the media, west coast or not.
August 11, 200322 yr Is Pedro Martinez worthy of consideration? He was out for a bit but the numbers are otherwise every bit as impressive as the rest.

And Pedro has only started 4-6 games less than the others, but gets a lot of no decisions from lack of run support.

Here is how much each of those pitchers receive in terms of RS... Roy Halladay = 6.89 RPG (3rd in AL) Pedro Martinez = 5.74 RPG (17th in AL) Jamie Moyer = 5.28 RPG (24th in AL) Mark Mulder = 4.82 RPG (30th in AL) Esteban Loaiza = 4.70 RPG (32nd in AL) So, Esteban has the #1 ERA in the AL (2.24), is tied for 2nd in wins (15), T-3rd in WHIP (1.06), T-4th in batting average against (.231), 3rd in OPS against (.606), and 1st in quality starts (20). In-f***ing-credible.

I still hold my breath every outing, praying the bloom won't fall off. Being a long term Sox fan, I learned long ago not to believe too quickly.
