TV Baseball for the Out-of-Towner

Featured Replies

Wednesday at 6 PM MDT we have Sox and Yankees on ESPN national boradcast

Saturday at 5 PM MDT on WGN we have Sox and Mariners

Now any other team in first place playing the yankmees would be on for all three games on either ESPN or MLB-Netowrk. Just saying

August appearances by first place teams on MLB Network:

Yankees 7

Rangers 3

Nationals 3

Reds 3

Dodgers 1

SOX -0-

And we got to watch that Red Sox-Yankees series too

I noticed the low level of Sox coverage on ESPN and thought maybe I was just a paranoid rookie.

Now that I see it brought up here, what is the story with it? Why do other teams, in less prominent positions than ourselves seem to appear more on TV? Or is it just good old paranoia after all?!

Yankees 43,475

Rangers 43,483

Dodgers 41,292

Washington 29,844

Cincinnati 29,477

White Sox 24,485

Their fan bases care the least about the Sox. Why would TV be any different?

The Cubs are also 12,000 per night higher in attendance than the Sox.

This looks startlingly like perspective, to me.

How is it actually carved up? Is it purely by demand or is there a minimum amount of games that each team gets to be televised?

The game tonight is listed as the back up game on MLB-network

You can bet it was selected because it is the Yankees vs. some other team.
