It is Loaiza's turn. Including today, it's been 4 days since his last start, and he should be starting tomorrow. If Adkins is starting in his place, Loaiza must be injured somehow. However, I was watching the game on KCAL 9, and the Angels announcers said that Loaiza is starting tomorrow -- but I would think the Sox official homepage would be more reliable, no?

 

CHeck the schedule. Jm may have pushed Elo back a game to line him up against the better teams left on the schedule, and thus avoiding the clev and det type of teams. Thats my best guess.

If so, that does make sense. What doesn't make sense, though, is why Adkins?

It would either have to be Adkins or Wright, and I have the feeling he wants Danny available from the bullpen.

ESPN, Yahoo and CBS have Loaiza. The Sox site has Adkins, but it's run by MLB. I hope to God he isn't going to start Adkins.

If it IS Adkins, the reason could possibly be that JM wants to have E-Lo start off the next series. The first game of every series is the most important, so he might want to use it as a momentum builder.

or a momentum killer. Why is it that everytime we win the first 2 games of a series, we feel that we must concede a game?

 

I'll be cheering for whoever's pitching, but i think getting a sweep would give us more momentum than losing tonight and winning tomorrow.

Hey, we're talking about Jerry Manuel here. Maybe he decided to replace Loiza with Adkins for the rest of the season to bring some youthful enthusiasm to the club.

i don't see any way you could justify starting adkins tonight -- unless Loaiza is injured or has a tired arm.

 

and even if that is the case, you have to go with Wright, not a guy with zero major league starts. What has Adkins shown in his first two starts to suggest this is the right move?

well right now on cltv loz is doing an interview.. about starting tonite........so i think its safe to say that adkins wont be starting reguardless what the mlb.com front page has listed........whew were safe......

Ya or maybe they'll use Loaiza out of the pen to close the game like some drunk broad suggested when she thought Steff was talking to the one and only Esteban Loaiza...a guy with an esteban loaiza all star jersey on in the bullpen sports bar
