UPDATE: The mayor of Manchester, IL says five people were killed in the small town early Wednesday morning. Another person was injured.

Mayor Ronald Drake says he got the call around 4:45 a.m. saying there had been a shooting with multiple fatalities. Now authorities at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department say one person is in custody.

The mayor did not say who the victims were or given any details about the suspect.

Classes were cancelled in three area school districts: Northgreene, Winchester and Jacksonville. Approximately 950 students are affected.

The Illinois State are planing a news conference for this morning.

Waiting for the 24/7 coverage and live coverage of the manhunt

If he used a bomb and not a gun, perhaps the coverage would be different. Or a major city and not small town America.

It wouldn't be very exciting coverage. How long can they film a dead guy?
