I read somewhere Sox Signed Jose Paniagua... Let me see if i find the link

Ya...there was an article about it on the Trib's site. Also a post somewhere on the board, although it may of slid to the second page.

Very solid move. He was sent to Charlotte (AAA).

I heard that to, im only 16, my pops said he was around before, who is he?

A reliever who was pretty darned good in the 2000 season for the Mariners. He's struggled in recent years, but if he can regain his '00 form, he could really help us down the stretch.

Paniguaga was a very sucessful pitcher in the Mariners bullpen in 2000 and 2001. He also pitched with a team or two before that and a few teams after that.

Had a great arm but in 2002 he really struggled with Detroit (I think thats where he went) and ended up falling out of baseball.

This year he pitched out of the US and has gotten healthy again and has regained his 94 MPH fastball (Allegedly). I also think he through a good slider and had decent sinking action on his fastball.

I just realized why the Sox put Koch on the DL. What that does is let's us use most of September to determine a replacement pitcher for Koch in the pen. Great move by the Sox.
