Louisiana Gov and NCAA Sports

Featured Replies

so Louisiana just elected a new Gov. A Democrat after many years of Republican leadership. I was down there during the campaign season and the guy ran as a true moderate.

He just gave his "state of the state" speech last week. In it, he said that they are lacking adequate funding for public, higher ed institutions. (ex. LSU) He said that they'd run out of $ in say April, just before graduation. If they dont fix the budget issue (cuts/tax increases) they'd send the students home early, with incompletes. Oh, and a side note, if you are an NCAA athlete, who gets incompletes in the semester before your sport starts, you are ineligable to participate in Fall sports. So no LSU Football.

So anyone who knows Louisiana, knows that LSU Football is probably the most popular sport in the state.

Two article links to read. Thought it would be a good discussion topic.

The Lazy River project, was started under Bobby Jindal.

No way they shut down LSU football. They may threaten but just no way.
