The WGN Sports, White Sox over-the-air television affiliates for the 2016 season apparently are complete, but 2 markets are missing which aired Sox games last season. Those are: Des Moines and Ft. Wayne.

I really don’t understand what’s going on in Des Moines. Last season, 20 Sox games aired on Channel 23 KCWI-TV Ames (The CW). That same TV station only wants to air Cubs games in 2016. In 2014 and prior years, when just the WCIU-TV games were distributed outside Chicago, the package of 25 Sox games and 8 Cubs games aired on Channel 13-3 WHO-DT (Antenna TV). WHO-DT is owned by Tribune Broadcasting. If there are no takers at Des Moines, why can’t Tribune Broadcasting simply place all 55 Sox games on the TV station that Tribune already owns? Is that too difficult??? Tribune also owns the Quad Cities affiliate, WQAD-TV, which is showing all 55 Sox games in 2016.

Ft. Wayne is a slightly different situation. The sub-channel that aired 46 Sox games last season, Channel 15-2 WANE-TV (Antenna TV) is dropping the network on June 30th, 2016. All of the big 4 network TV stations at Ft. Wayne are tied up with ownership changes or network affiliation swaps, but the Cubs still managed to get 37 of their 70 OTA games to air in that city. Sox are now gone from television, but there is a new radio affiliate near Ft. Wayne on FM airing all White Sox games: 106.7 WFGA Hicksville, OH / Ft. Wayne (ESPN Radio).

You might be able to receive the Cedar Rapids TV affiliate using a quality, roof mounted, long range VHF antenna pointed southeast to Walker, Iowa. That's the location of KCRG-TV's tower, halfway between Cedar Rapids and Waterloo, which is 1,880 feet tall.

The distance from the center of Mason City to the tower is 91 miles. According to this website, you are at the fringe of the TV station's coverage area.

Or you can start calling Channel 3 KIMT Mason City to request the station to carry White Sox & Cubs games.

Is 'Comcast SportsNet Chicago' available on cable / dish at Mason City for the non-WGN telecasts?
