clujer420
Howdy all. Haven't been around in quite some time. Reason? I think most of you know. Anyway, it appears that 2003 is over for the Chicago White Sox. Our starting pitching and offense has let us down greatly in the 2 most important games of the season, and barring a miracle, it has put the Sox out of contention for the Central division. It's really quite unfortunate, too, because I think most of us will agree that if the Sox had made the playoffs, ANYTHING could have happened. With our top 3 starters and offense, we really could have beaten ANY team. But, the most unfortunate thing about this is that we've got a great lineup, but it's likely to be extremely different come Opening Day 2004. JR is not going to increase payroll (why should/would he?), and our free agents are not going to re-sign IMO. Colon is almost certainly gone, as will be Carl Everett and Robbie Alomar. Who knows what will happen with Frank, and Carlos Lee is also going to be a free agent (I believe). If we go 8-3 or something over our final 11 games and the Twins implode, who knows. But, from where I sit in chilly So Cal, it's looking extremely bleak.

No -- I watched our pitchers walk batter after batter and our offense constantly fail to put runs on the board. And as a result, instead of possibly being 1.5 games up, we're 2.5 games back and it's O-V-E-R.
Al Lopez Ghost (old)
Carlos Lee is not going to be a free agent. He is arbitration eligible.
The Critic
For the Sox to have ANY hope AT ALL, tonight is a MUST MUST WIN. ( now past the most obvious point ) If I see another 6-pitches-and-out 1st inning tonight, I will go f***ing INSANE. The Sox didn't even give themselves a chance to see if Rogers was wild, or how his stuff looked. That flyball-happy offense is the death of this team. When it's on, it's very exciting and fun to watch. But Powerball ( I like that term better than Bigball ) is ALWAYS less effective and inconsistent than Smallball in the long run, and against better pitching. I really hope Baines or Walker or SOMEBODY is pleading with Sox hitters to take the "hit it up the middle" approach to the plate. AND STOP WITH THE FLYBALLS ALREADY!!!!! IlliniKrush
You can label every game from here on out a must win...they have to go at least 9-2 i'd say to have any shot...and then it's still not a good one
