Yes, paying to watch a very bad team just to tell Jerry to sell isn't a great idea. Fans have been shouting at him to sell for a long time, and, as we all can see, it has had no effect. I don't understand how JR can watch this team sink to this level. But he won't sell, and fans taunting him will only increase his stubbornness.

How about if the fans showed up outside the stadium and chant "sell the team". That way the point gets across with out the team making money off ticket sales.

I don’t know how you retain this guy. He’s awful. And it’s not likely he’s JRs guy. It’s gotta be a one and done, right!?

I would be concerned that JR will decide that he needs another year because the White Sox don't want to pay 2 managers. There is also the question as to who picked him( assume Hahn but this is the White Sox) and he maybe should also go

Some stuff was $5 that I saw

In fairness, some teams do restrict discounts on certain prime opponents. I know for years, Tampa Bay restricted Red Sox, Yankees and Dodger home games. That happened when those teams had a ton more fans than the Ray could draw.

    This is a massive overreaction.

Maybe not. Putting everything aside, the most important factor is JR. Are the White Sox comfortable making income  number 1 or spending money and getting a good team number 1. It is not an overreaction if JR is happy the books look great or he is bullshit the team is so bad. The future will tell us what the FO "really" wants to achieve.

To be honest many sports teams dressing rooms are populated by people who are not 'grown ass men' mentally, they may be physically. Elite sportsmen have usually led a sheltered and coveted lifestyle from an early age when their talent became apparent. They are used to people bending over backwards to please them, by the time they reach the MLB or any elite sports level too many of them think that 'they have made it' and don't really take on criticism or have any self criticism. That is why someone from their peer group of players who either leads by example or call them out when they are not performing is often the difference between a team like the White Sox who drift along and underachieve and a team that is motivated and over achieves.

Coaches and managers do play a part, but players know that usually the manager or coaches will be the first to be sacked for poor performance because that is easier than getting rid of a whole number of players. The rot set in under TLR but it seems to have got far worse under Grifol, it makes you wonder if there is any player backing up what the manager says. The big trouble is that once this indifference has set in it takes a very charismatic manager or strong player leaders to change the culture, and it would appear the White Sox have neither.

Teams lose and we see all the stories of 25 players, 25 cabs.  Teams win and we see all the stories of teamwork. Maybe the White Sox didn't spend time finding players who have a team purpose as well as a player purpose.  The Red Sox had the 25 cabs but eventually some key players like Johnny Damon and Mike Lowell were key players that helped turn their fortunes around. But they were not star players but were able to fill a need.   Somebody in the White Sox organization needs to find these guys as well as the Cease and Robert to go along with them.

Yawn boring. Grifol may be a s%*# stain on the carpet, but Rick/Jerry/Kenny are the huge pile in the middle of the room.

Agree. It is set up to have the new guy be the reason the team sucks.  To me he does suck but he is 3-4  down the line for where the blame should be

Sox management doesn't know nor does it care but I am emotionally detached as well. The team is so badly constructed it's obvious there's no hope of .500 even for many many years. And if a diehard like myself is detached, what about others? Attendance has actually been pretty good. Wonder if that would change considering the growing apathy.

Somebody in the front office must have seen today's game and gone into a rant. Whether it was JR, KW,RH. or PG, one of them must have exploded after this game. Someone should have been traded or DFA. Maybe someone in the front office should have been fired.  Maybe someone in the FO should be having a closed door meeting tomorrow including interpreters with the team and screamed at them.

This is an embarrassment to the fans of this team who cannot believe what we are seeing.  Tomorrow heads should  begin to roll and continue once the trade deadline opens.

Why sit AVaughn against Verlander ? He has to learn how to hit tough right handers and given where the Sox are in the standings this would have been good practice against one of the best.

In fairness, Vaughn has played in 94 of the 97 starts for White Sox. So maybe Verlander has eaten him up in the past or maybe he just needed a day off. But to your point, Vaughn needs to be in as many games as possible even if worst case he ends up being a trade chip down the road.

    Eloy 😆

Look for him to miss time for the 19th time since he came up to the Sox.

    😆

Please trade his ass for whatever you can. More unfulfilled potential in part because of that big contract before proving anything.

Actually this should make Colas the starting RF going forward.  Eloy has no real value as a part time player( really a DH) so Sox will have to keep him anyway. Good news he did not take down someone else with him.

Greed is the word why JR didn’t want the area around the new park to be developed, he wanted the fans to spend their money in the park and nowhere else. Sox fans have got some sort of revenge by having tailgate parties as they bring their own food and refreshments.

A day at the park is really enhanced by having options outside the park. I haven't done a lot of stadiums but Baltimore is excellent, Boston is pretty good but Tampa Bay and  Dodger Stadium( long time ago so that may have changed)  were weak.  Went in and out by train at night so not sure what Philadelphia had. I find it great when an area is relatively clean/safe with a lot of activities so fans can make a day before /after the game.

I read in todays Sun Times that Pedro has 2 more years remaining on his contract.

I do not see Pedro going anywhere. I don't know how much he makes, but the Sox do not make a decision that fast.  If JR has kept Hahn through this mess, he should be the 1st to go.

The baseball gods must hate the Sox.

Robert gets hurt -- awful news.

And the Sox happen to open the second half against the Braves? One big LOL. Can you say sweep? That sweep should assure more bad chemistry and zombielike baseball for the rest of the month.

Let's think positive. Sox sweep Atlanta and start their " March" to the Central Crown.
