Well, then this goes back to the scouting and development issues that have haunt this team for the last 20+ years. Assuming you are saying you aren't sold on what they have been saying about Madrigal. For once, I just need this damn franchise to hit a HR for a top position player draft pick. Hell, outside of Sale there hasn't been much success for any top draft picks.

Moncada taking work at 3B is irrelevant to Machado. All indications point to Madrigal being the 2B of the future and on a possible fast track to the Bigs. Need to figure out Moncada's versatility sooner than later.

Heyman is begging for Machado to end up a Yankee. Dude has been an embarrassment this off season not being able to remove his fan hat while being a National writer.

Let's also keep in mind that the Bulls were right there almost at the Miami Heat Level even when they missed out on the big 3. If Eloy could be Derrick Rose, and Moncada be Luol Deng then maybe we can live with Moose being Carlos Boozer. I keep saying it, the Sox will not get anywhere if their young core doesn't develop into elite all-stars. That simple. Machado or Harper isn't going to save the Sox from that.

I think Kopech and Moncada will be fine. Giolito is terrible. But it's only one full season for those guys, Kopech even less. I think that's more of where the angst comes from for Sox fans, seeing the young guys come up and struggle from day one or get hurt coming out of bed. And that's acceptable. But I don't see how Manny fixes that. We'd need 5 Manny Machado's if everyone of these young guys comes up and flops here at the big league level. The key to our success is not going to be to get one of these so called "whales." Player development. Can these young elite prospects meet their ceilings at the big league level? That's my biggest concern.

My goodness, let's not get blinded here. There is plenty to look up to with the core of young guys coming. Manny is one guy, and last I checked the Orioles were not blowing doors with ticket demand and ratings. Big picture folks, let's not loose our heads over one guy.

The SD meeting is good news. At least we know there is some sort of traction and possibly a resolution (good or bad) coming soon.

Unless we're looking to contend, I think our bullpen is fine as is with two veterans and allow the other kids to settle in to find their place. Almost lost Zach Thompson to rule 5, that's an example. Need to start giving some of these young power arms an extended look.
