  1. Since Machado is off the table, and Harper is likely out of reach, who do you think the Sox should target. Gonzalez, Keuchel?
  2. That's the thing. How much of it is Hahn? How much of it is WIlliams? And how much is Reinsdorf? I believe Hahn knows what he's doing, but his hands are tied in certain aspects. However, I don't have an inside source and can be completely wrong.
  3. I hope this is true, but I hope they don't get into a ridiculous contract just to make it seem like they're willing to spend money.
  4. I'm a die-hard Sox fan and am extremely disappointed. However, if you don't support your team when it hits rock bottom, then you weren't a fan in the first place. Don't get me wrong this stings, but you're not a die-hard if you're going to switch to another team that quickly.
  5. Harper is smiling right now. Time for the Phillies to pick up the phone and spend that stupid money.
  6. Is the Hahn press conference at 1 going to be available for streaming?
  7. We can't blame them. I actually like the Jay signing even though we didn't get Machado. The Alonso trade is head scratching.
  8. Marwin isn't washed up enough. And don't worry, we'll get Machado eventually. Just when he's washed up. He'll join the Sox greats of Canseco, Griffey, Rollins, etc.
  9. I was worried about that. We should have just went after Moose and get a starter.
  10. I think we have a case. Legal Definition of emotional distress : a highly unpleasant emotional reaction (as anguish, humiliation, or fury) which results from another's conduct and for which damages may be sought — called also emotional harm, mental anguish, mental distress, mental disturbance, mental suffering — see also OUTRAGE, ZONE OF DANGER NOTE: Damages may be recoverable for emotional distress that is caused intentionally or negligently. Recovery for negligent infliction of emotional distress often requires that the plaintiff suffer a physical injury as well.
  11. Yeah, but if I recall didn't they post some stuff about Harper right around when the Sox met with him?
  12. Not sure if anyone is a fan of OOTP, but I found this hypothetical article to be amusing. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/we-put-bryce-harper-and-manny-machado-on-a-bunch-of-different-teams/
  13. However, I would say the Sox have a higher percentage of die-hard fans compared to the Cubs. But the Cubs definitely have more casual fans imo.
  14. I live in Tinley and I'd say it depends on the demographic. There are more male Sox fans than Cubs fans, and vice versa for females. I would say my age demographic (25-34) slightly leans towards the Sox.
  15. And I only said Padres because they are one of the mystery teams.
  16. Agreed. Then the Sox would be all "alone" in bids for Machado. Also, some teams like the Padres may settle for Marwin Gonzalez, Moose, and other 2nd tier players since they are most likely be willing to sign a contract today if something worth while came along. If these players sign first , teams will pull out of the Machado/Harper sweepstakes.
  17. Best case scenario for us is the Phillies sign Moose and go all in for Harper.
  18. I'm not saying I don't agree with the players as well. I just see both players and owners having valid points.
  19. Owners are just getting tired of having to give 100% percent guaranteed contracts. There's so many bad contracts in baseball today that owners aren't willing to jeopardize their team's long term finances in hopes a player pans out for all 7+ years of a deal without the ability to opt out.
  20. Must have came from Bruce Levine. Honestly, if 7/175 was the Sox initial offer, then yes he turned it down. But its definitely gone up from that.
  21. SInce the Dodgers and Sox share Camelback Ranch, I wouldn't be surprised for a trade were to be made after pitchers and catchers report. It may give the Sox and Dodgers a chance to "scout" the final pieces of the trade some more.
  22. I hope its true, but I don't see a team "agreeing" to trade somebody and hold on to them just in case. If anything they would still be talking offers in hopes they will get more in return. I could be wrong (hopefully).
