Just speculation, but do you think he possibly said he received offers from the Dodgers, Yankees, Phillies, and White Sox just to fuel negotiations?

I'm not fluent, but I believe he said something about a fish being in a library. I can be wrong though.

As much as I'd like the move I think that would put us in the luxury tax. It's going to be a crazy bidding war for his services.

I would love for a documentary to come out on something like this. Follow Manny's (any big name free agent) camp and see how things are behind the scenes with offers, rumors, etc.

I can kind of see the 7 years/ $175 as an offer. If the sox opt in for him then the salary would skyrocket after three years to make the deal equal to 8/250. $25 million for the first 3 years If the sox pick up the extra year (or two) his contract would become $35 million until the contract runs out

I think its going to mostly be quiet for the rest of the process. Nobody is going to want to release any information unless they are 100% that they are accurate.

I think they're already at halfway. Lozano is now waiting to see if the Sox can increase it closer to the $325 that they originally wanted. If the Sox did increase their off by $75 million, he's going to see how much more he can get.

The $175 million has to be the initial offer. Manny's camp wants $325. Both parties will give in a bit and meet about halfway. The gap between the initial offer and what Manny was looking for are unprecedented causing all the confusion.

Rick needs to play hardball. Call Lozano up and straight up ask him if he's accusing the Sox of leaking. If so, temporarily take the offer off the table. That'll leave his client with 0 offers and he'll look like the fool.

Hahn or Jr have been in contact with Lozano after this has been out. They're probably even talking now.

Let them shame us. The only opinions are that of the Sox and Machado camp. As long things are good between them it doesn't really matter what everyone else around the league thinks.

True, but both parties know when the CBA is finished. They'll start talks in negotiations before that and hopefully work the majority of issues out. Owners won't want to lose revenue, and players won't want to lose their salaries. Owners and players both know whats at stake and would try to avoid that at all costs.

I'm not too worried about it yet. A lot can change between then and now. We'll see how this free agency winds up as well as contract extensions.
