  1. I would, but I would probably be the minority. Las Vegas Slots...Come for the Slots, stay for the ......
  2. Key phrase was "when winning." New owners are going to want to go to a place where they can maximize profits whether the team is winning or not. Vegas seems like a logical choice. All they need are slot machines spread throughout the stadium and a brothel in right field. Profits will skyrocket!
  3. I'm going to try to have a life this summer. I heard that can be pretty fun.
  4. True. For the longest time it was the Sox and Phils. The Padres came out of nowhere (although they were the mystery team). We may be out now, but things might change if the Phils try to get Harper for cheap.
  5. I was thinking yesterday that Harper was so happy since teams were going to get desperate and start a bidding war. However, now I see it as Harper may have to settle for less due to the lack of suitors.
  6. I also recall reading something a few years back that Reinsdorf told his son's when he passes to sell the team. I'm not sure if there's any validity or if I'm just imagining things. Either way I think moving the team is a real possibility.
  7. Yes, I've been thinking for this for a couple years and think the Sox will move. It's just a gut feeling, and I hope I'm wrong. However, if they move I'm going to follow the organization. I've spent 29 years of my life with this organization, and I won't stop cheering for them even if they move to Portland or Vegas.
  8. We can see if they're interested in Southpaw, or is he one of Kenny's guys and considered untouchable?
  9. They never said the stupid money would be spent on players. Maybe a friend for the Phillie Phanatic?
  10. I really need to stop reading this forums because everytime I see someone's post I think of how the sox can turn something into a negative. Like signing Cargo and Kuechel for way over their value.
  11. I can see Ervin Santana. I don't think they'd get Marwin. Yolmer is a poor man's version of Marwin, and I personally rather have Yolmer (from a locker room perspective).
  12. CarGo will be the Sox right fielder next season. He's the perfect level of washed up/ injury prone this team is used to.
  13. You took the words I couldn't think of right out of my mouth.
  14. A lot of what was said yesterday was based off pure emotion. We've all had a night to sleep on it and I guarantee there have been discussions internally about how they can fix this, even if it means willing to spend more money. I don't think they will, but who knows what's going on in the FO now.
  15. I think "absurd" needs to be defined. I'm good with anything up to $350, but I'll start worrying if somehow it goes beyond that.
  16. They could have been hoping Machado signed with the Phils, then that would help them with the Bryce negotiations. Then the Padres happened.
  17. I want Jerry to panic, but not be overly desperate. I want Harper, but I don't want Reindsorf to give an absurd amount of money now that Harper's price skyrocketed.
  18. I think the Sox FO will quickly deny the level of interest if a leak happened. They'll give a generic "who wouldn't be interested in a player like Harper, but we have financial hurdles (complete bs), blah, blah, blah." I believable the Sox leaked information in the Machado saga and that left a bad taste in Lozano's mouth.
  19. The Padres were a mystery team with Machado for a long time. Heck, they even visited him and it didn't get reported for a few days after.
  20. And let's say there's a miracle that we do sign Harper. The FO is going to say he was their number 1 choice all along, and they were hoping to get both Machado and Harper.
  21. Exactly. The fan base is already pissed. No need for them to say we're going all in on Harper and fall short which will create more backlash. If they are going to go after Harper, they need to do it quietly.
  22. Like it or not, that's the majority the the fans. They buy the most tickets, jerseys, etc. It sucks for us die-hards, but there's not enough die-hards to carry the team and we need "casual" fans.
  23. This also had the possibility of gaining some Cubs fans after the horrible offseason they had. Not saying we want everybody to jump ship, but this had the potential to gain some more casual fans and increase the teams presence in the city.
  24. All depends on the numbers he puts up. San Diego is a pitcher friendly field. I would have rather played in a hitters park if there was a chance of opting out, but that's mostly me being biased.
