Rangers fans are on Twitter and Reddit are talking EXACTLY like Sox fans. It's pretty eerie.

My guess is every team's fans except for the Yankees, Nationals, and Angels are sounding about the same way. Even the Nationals fans are probably b****ing about not keeping Rendon and I know the Angel's fans are pissed about not getting any pitching except for Bundy.

  2. OMG, Just stop! I will go on record as saying I love the Mazara trade ! After losing out on Wheeler, this is exactly the kind of move that needed to made. Deep breath, regroup, win a trade, it's still only Dec 11th! With Wheeler, all of us started squinting and seeing a path to contention this year. Without Wheeler, it becomes much more about stepping back and realizing we have a TON of shit that would have to go perfectly to win the division. Gio, Yoan, TA all continuing to improve or at least not regress. Cease and Lopez both taking a giant step forward. Kopech and Rodon coming back at a high level from injury. Robert and Madrigal stepping right in and performing at a high level immediately. The relief corps continuing to outperform projections. Acquiring plus starting pitching. Is it really that horrible of a thing to add Mazara to all the question marks for 2020? I for one prefer it to literally WASTING the money on a RF if any one of these things dont go our way. A million times more likely that several things in this list dont go our way and we finish slightly better than .500 than trading for Mazara costs us a playoff berth. HAHN WON THIS TRADE. PERIOD.

So lets say Rendon is cheaper than Cole or Strasburg... Would it be crazy to sign him, and then use Moncada as the centerpiece to acquire either a great young RF, or Starting pitcher?

It is interesting to me that out of the thousands of posts I've read in multiple threads here, I'm pretty sure this is the first one I've seen where someone suggested trading any of the young MLB position player core. Collins, yes. A couple of the young pitchers, yes. But I dont remember seeing any Moncada, Anderson, Jimenez trade suggestions. Maybe one with Anderson....

What's bothering me is that there doesn't seem to be any middle ground between a home run and a disaster off season. Last year was definitely an unmitigated disaster. But I find any offseason that includes Yaz can't be a bad one, and there's still going to be moves made.

That's only because of our raised expectations when it looked like we might get Wheeler. We all suddenly saw a way where THIS year could actually have a path to the postseason. With what's left of the pitching market, it's much easier to return to thinking that this year we take steps toward contention and genuinely compete for the Central in 2021.

You say we are all dumbasses for falling for it but in the same paragraph still choose to think Cole or stras sign here...... take a deep breath man and realize that simply isn’t going to happen.

Why not? We've all CHOSEN to believe the narrative. Hahn giving it a shot, probably to appease Jerry, to land the best cheapest option(Wheeler) does not mean they havent discussed the fact that they might not be successful and might just have to spend more to get what we absolutely, positively NEED. No way I believe Hahn or Jerry assumed they would automatically get Wheeler and if not, the rest of the lower tier would be just fine. Love em or hate em, nobody gets to their respective positions by being that clueless and unprepared.

  6. The fact that we're  even talking about a Plan B is bullshit when Plan A should have always been and should now still be to SIGN COLE OR STRAS. We are all a bunch of dumbasses for falling for this shit. Every single one of us is smart enough to know that if you can pay $250 million plus for Machado, you can pay the same amount for a franchise altering pitcher, and so is Jerry. I'll take my chances every single time with Cole/ Stras + Moustakas (estimated $50M/ year) over Wheeler+ Machado (roughly $54M/ year). That said, I choose to believe we sign Cole or Stras until they actually sign elsewhere.

Silly to trade Collins. Collins is Grandal but only 25 years old.  I say we platoon Collins, Grandal, McCann at C, 1B, and DH. Get them all maximum plate appearances.

If anything we need outfielders now. Dickerson seems like a good pickup to play RF. Attach that along with Billy Hamilton signing to lead off and play CF would be the icing on the cake!

To get Bennitendi alone it would take Madrigal and Vaughn...too much to give up.

Please, please stop with the Billy Hamilton talk! He isnt now and never has been a solution to anybody's centerfield or lead off needs. He has no business being on any major league roster as anything but a pinch runner.
