Joc>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Eaton. Period. There is no possible way to spin his signing for equal money as anything but a massive failure by the White Sox.

Good point about moving onto talking about Cruz again. Similar to Hendriks, Cruz has been perusing this forum post and has decided to stay with the Twins in light of seeing ONE bat shit crazy fan(?) arguing for pages on end...

The "past few" seasons were not this one. This one has been treated as an all in season. The Lynn trade was an all in move. Yet apparently we are not going all in.
Having a "pretty good team" is entirely irrelevant to the point here. We were a pretty good team without the trade.. Trading for Lynn is a win now move yet we are apparently not going to spend enough on our other needs to solidify that notion. Which makes the trade a waste. It would be different if he had multiple years left. It's not hard to understand.
You are debating the shit out of something simple. Trading Dunning for Lynn was, is, and always will be because we did not have a 3rd starter in 2020 to start in the playoffs and it caused us a chance to advance deeper into the postseason, now we do. The total cost to the Sox was a cheap one year contract for Lynn and giving up the guy they didn't trust to start Game 3. Nowhere close to all-in.

Dodgers & Yankees were the other two teams I was thinking of, but don’t see what starting pitchers they have that would also be expendable.
Dodgers have like 61 extra starters that would be expendable. At least it always seems like it.

We have a really good history with them?
Wouldn't say a really good history, but we do share the spring training facilities and we have done some deals over the years. Plus the pkg being talked about could fit their needs, if one were to squint just a little bit.

🤔...no idea what team he is referring to. Feels like we always trade with Texas, but they don’t have anyone left that fills the bill.
Dodgers?

You do realize doing that would provide the exact same result, right? Here, let's try it, just for fun:
5.8/162 = .0358
3.3/162 = .0204
2.5/60 = .0417
.0358 + .0204 + .0417 = .0978 * 162 = 15.9/3 = 5.3 WAR/162, as I may have stated previously.
Even I knew that, and I didn't realize there was gonna a math quiz tonite.

Happy New Year! This is Year One of the White Sox Dynasty! My sources tell me more World Series Championships this decade for the Sox than they've had all-time. 4+ this decade.

Merry Christmas to all! Here's hoping the new year brings us the World Series Championship we've been waiting 15+ years for!

I've seen reports saying Hendriks is looking for a 3 year/$40 mil deal. He has same agent as Machado, btw.

That is a real bad move. The league should just push the PA to accept the DH. The player pool of unemployed players in ST is going to be much larger if they don't add the DH. IMO they should make a 27-man roster and a universal DH going into the season just to try to get more players jobs heading into 2021 knowing that the CBA expires after the season.
The PA isn't the problem. The owners are who needs the push. Owners are trying to get concessions from the players in order to agree to a universal DH.

Been thinking this over and here are the moves I'd like to see and they make sense to me. We are in win now mode. I understand we don't want to deplete the system, but the core is here.
1. Trade for Snell (Kopech/Vaughn/Steiver) are the guys to make this happen.
2. Trade for Lynn and Gallo (Madrigal/Collins/whoever else makes sense).
3. Sign Springer
4. Sign La Stella
5. Resign Engel
6. Resign Colome
Lineup:
C- Yaz/Yermin (Give him a shot)
1B - Abreu/Yaz
2B - La Stella/Mendick/Leury
SS - TA/Mendick/Leury
3B - Yoan/Mendick
LF - Gallo/Engel/Leury
CF - Robert/Engel/Leury
RF - Springer/Engel/Leury
P
1 - Snell
2 - Giolito
3 - Keuchel
4 - Lynn
5 - Cease/Dunning
Pen
Foster/Heuer/Bummer/Marshall/Crotchet/Colome
Did we trade Eloy in this scenario?

One outlier season and all of the sudden I'm wrong about Abreu? Let's see how next season goes before we get ahead of ourselves. One more great season out of Jose with no PED suspension and maybe I'll issue an apology to Jose.
My God, you are an idiot.

I know that the Ricketts don't have unlimited funds but it is mind blowing that they are claiming poor the past few years.
53 minutes ago, southsider2k5 said:They took on SOOOOO much debt to make the buy of the team happen, that their debt load puts them up against the MLB ceilings.
The Rickett's just sold Ameri Trade to Charles Schwab for 26 Billion. Crying poor is kinda silly.

So far the results are that we are the laughing stock of baseball, a major free agent said he wouldn't sign here, and a top coaching choice wouldn't come here. Smashing successes so far.
Who is the top coaching choice?

There are a lot of things on the internet. But Grandal is often a dope and Vazquez is one of the top defensive C in baseball, and his offensive game has developed as well. He's cheaper also. He's just better.
There was something I read in the offseason also about a scout talking about Realmuto being the clear #1 and Vazquez the clear #2 and then there's a big dropoff after that. But if all you want to think about is framing or whatever than I guess whatever. But Vazquez is still better anyway.

Sox should approach the Red Sox about Grandal + Lopez + 1-2 small pieces for Vazquez + Eovaldi.
Money should be pretty close. Vazquez is an upgrade over Grandal and Eovaldi becomes the 5th starter/swingman. At least he should be able to split the #5 slot with Kopech this year and maybe with Crochet next year. I bet the Red Sox want out of that money.
What?

Personally, I've wanted to lay the ask out here for Not Steve/Portillos/Al's to use some code word in a tweet so we know they're reading this (which I think we all think they're poster(s) here).
So yeah if they're reading this, please use "razzmatazz" in a future tweet. Please and thank you.

Everyone was done with Gio as well. Lets see if this guy can do something with him. Reylos pitching style completely changed from the time he was with the Nats to our version of him. Lets De-Cooper him a bit and see if he is still poop. If he still sucks after working with Katz then sure jettison him to the 4th ring of hell.
I thought this word was banned in here?

I have no words to describe how truly disgusted I am with the organization right now. So much false hope, so much of the same as it ever was.
Joc to Cubs
in Pale Hose Talk
Posted
The Sox did not need Joc vs. lefties. Joc is vastly superior to Eaton vs. righties, of which there are a ton more of in the division. His platoon bat (strong side), ability to play all three OF positions and DH against righties is EXACTLY the type of depth move that the Sox needed. Joc fills more needs than Eaton. Nobody thinks he's Springer.
