No. No. No. You were correct that it is a silly question to ask. They need to quit tarnishing the HOF by including guys who don't deserve it. If there's ever a first time I give Jose props, it'll be the first time, but just no to the HOF.

Lindor's probably going to the Dodgers or Mets or Yankees. Outside chance maybe the Angels or Phillies?

But why can't we make a crazy move like this. I have 0 faith the W'sox get it done, but whatever

Well, because it would be crazy, as in stupid crazy. TA may not be the better player (debatable, at least for this White Sox team), but adding Lindor's salary is 100% counterproductive and doesn't make any damn sense. At least try and come up with something that makes a tiny bit of sense.

    1) Do you have any idea how much better a healthy Chris Sale is than Keuchel?  A significant upgrade is in itself a purpose.

    2) Adding more SP I already addressed.  By sending out Keuchel's salary we could theoretically also still add another SP this offseason.  IMO Bauer and Stroman both, and also maybe Gausman, are better than Keuchel.  Paxton and Tanaka if healthy are also better.  There are some real options to make 2 improvements over the guy that Keuchel will be in 2021 through 2023.

    3) McCann is a FA.  We maybe can have him back if we want him but he's the biggest C target on the FA market IMO, because only Realmuto is better, but because Realmuto is actually great and will want lots of money and years, only a handful of teams will even bother to bid on him, leaving McCann as the best C target available most likely for most teams.  Even if we could sign him back, Vazquez is a most likely a better player on paper, and Vazquez is already on a much better (and cheaper) contract than McCann will get as a FA.

Sale had Tommy John surgery on March 30. He will not pitch a full season in 2021.

Sale will cost more money in 2021 than Keuchel. That would potentially limit what the Sox could spend on additional pitching.

McCann being a FA is the least of why the Sox will not trade Grandal. Vazquez brings nothing to the table.

And thats not even addressing the Red Sox side of the whole equation.

This trade proposal is not the worst I've ever seen, but it is definitely a strong contender.

All the best managers recently were largely first time managers as it's moved from getting someone who knows baseball to letting the FO handle that and get a guy the players trust and respect.

The superstar manager is dead, sox don't need one. If they really want previous experience, LAD bench coach Bob Geren who has held the role for the WS appearing mets and now dodgers after an unsuccessful run as As manager during the 07-11 years.

But I stand by wanting Quatraro.

I'm with you on Quatraro. I would much rather have a current member of the Ray's organization to be our fresh eyes than a former member of the dysfunctional Astros organization.

I'm certain that logic = no Bauer.

Sox have never spent on a pitcher on Bauer's level especially at #1 in the FA market. Hinch or no Hinch, that ain't happening. Also Bauer said he'd even listen to the Astros if they wanted him.

Like Hahn said yesterday, alot of the Sox never haves have been thrown out the window lately.

Yes, but is one year of Bauer worth more than 5 years of Hinch and a quality number 2 or 3 arm? And a better shot at getting Springer?  I don't think so personally.

A quality 2 or 3 arm is something Sox can get with or without Hinch. A quality 1 or maybe 2 is what we need. Hiring Hinch takes at least 1 option off the table and who knows how many others won't want to play for him. Still don't think Sox pay for Springer regardless of who the manager is, and having an in with Springer isn't as important as upgrading the top of the Sox rotation.

I honestly don't know how hiring Hinch, someone with actual championship experience which is way different than anything the Sox have ever done, leads you to believe that it will end up being same old same old.

simply firing RR and Cooper should show you immediately that this is not the same and should not be judged as the same as anything this regime has ever done.

My point was that Hinch= no Bauer

No Bauer= same old white sox upgrades to the pitching staff, as in bounce back candidates, middle market, not top of market

  8. Bottom line, Bauer and pitching in general will have a much more significant impact on the White Sox ability to win titles moving forward than Hinch or any other manager ever will. I want Bauer more than I want Hinch. Hiring Hinch means no Bauer, and likely means much less appealing and much more Same Old White Sox options for the rotation "upgrades".

Of all the people being  mentioned, this is the ONE guy I hope Hahn meant when he said what he said about waiting til after the World Series.

Well, I just checked and Cash is under contract through 2024, with an option for 2025. So much for that...

Harper's contract is roughly 274M not including signing bonuses; and hes projected to produce 284M in value at 35.5 fWAR, so his surplus value is likely more than 10M when you factor in inflation. If Philadelphia is going to rebuild I'd welcome him on this team seeing how most of the core is locked up. The question then becomes how much if any is Philly willing to kick in to move his contract and could we also get Wheeler added into the mix?

Wouldn't acquiring Harper now be roughly the same as if the Sox had won the Machado sweepstakes? Not that I think there's a chance in hell Harper happens, but as fans we can't be expected to believe that "the money was spent". Grandal and Keuchel and all the one year fillers were gonna need to happen regardless of a Manny acquisition.

Imagine this lineup with Bryce Harper and Andrew Vaughn in it... Good lord that would be insane.

Imagine how badly Ricky would butcher the lineup construction with Harper and Vaughn added.

This would make them pretty close to being the favorites to win the WS.

It could all be so simple...

Pretty close? DeGrom, Bauer, Springer makes you THE World Series favorite, hands down!

The Rodon IBB was also a bad call. I think he preferred Rodon not having to throw another pitch and was confident Foster could get out of it (he had been so good all year), but it was head scratcher in hindsight. Maybe cost them the game. Problem is, no IBB there and Rodon has to face that batter. In hindsight it’s easy to say that was the right call - and I think it was - but I can at least understand RR logic. In real-time I didn’t hate it.

He HAD to do it to meet the 3 batter minimum. Period.

Do we absolutely need to sign a starter?  Giolito, Keuchel, Dunning, Cease, and then Reylo, Crochet, Kopech?

Did you not watch the game? Or any games this year? Every name after the first 2 either underperformed significantly, is toast, may be hurt, or is an unknown after not throwing a pitch for 2 years.
