I know it's a shitty day, and we all hate to see Robert go down. He is so much fun to watch and makes the game look easy. But let's look at this realistically.

Abreu and Grandal have not hit at all this year. Moncada is just starting to get going the past 8-10 days. Nicky sticks is a guy who can step up further. Vaughn has been rake city for the past few weeks and will only improve.

They won't replace Robert, but with Grandal and Robert improving, and the Yerminator continuing to yerminate, they're in good shape. Even better though? The future MVP, #7, is still on the roster and he will carry the weight of Luis on himself. If 7 can be the elite player we all know he can be, this team is still in good hands. The SP is top of the league, and the bullpen will improve. Does it suck to watch Billy Hamilton and Leury Garcia everyday? Yes, but let's be honest with ourselves. Is that really different than what has been happening under bozo the clown Tony LaRussa? Not really.

If Vaughn keeps getting better, I think the Sox can easily hang on and win the division. By then, Eloy will have been resurrected like Jesus Christ, and with his ressurrection he will bring with him #88 to return for the playoffs.

Cease, Kopech, Rodon, Lynn, Giolito (until Jack kicks him out of the rotation) and Keuchel can carry this team to the regular season finish line with TA7. Then the season resets and the Sox add some secret weapons come playoff time. Let's go!

In all seriousness, I agree with this post.

Who needs scouting reports when you have guts?

I know even my dead grandma who passed in 1999 doesn't need a scouting report to know you don't pinch hit Garcia down 2 runs in the 9th with a man on, no matter which side of the plate he hits from.

I am a briefs wearing man... well this particular day I was wearing boxers.  As we all know, those allow for far more  movement within the underwear..  While loading the dishwasher I shut the door, quickly and strongly, to ensure a clean lock of the dishwasher door to prevent any potential bubble leakage from my extra bubbly Cascade pods.  Being a briefs wearing man, I miscalculated the amount of hang there would be within my boxers.  The dishwasher shut mightily, and I screamed even more mightily as my loins had been caught in the shutting dishwasher door.  A day which will live in infamy.

    I'm squirmin' just reading this

... things probably look a whole lot different if he wasn't try to mix and match for Eloy and TA.  Any team loses 2 of their best players, things aren't going to go exactly how we drew it up all offseason.

Isn't being able to manage around things like this the point of having a Hall of Fame Baseball Person? Honestly, my grandmother, who died in 1999, could manage the team with Anderson and Eloy and do just fine. I can also guarantee she would put out more competitive lineups than TLR has so far.

and? they still make the playoffs. I dont care what their playoff record is, they get there. Consistently. We only did that once in the last 13 years, and that was thanks to an expanded playoff format. Until this team stops embarrassing itself on the field and in the front office I will have little faith in their ability to even make it there.

You are the 4th or 5th poster who has made this claim in the past few days. The Sox WOULD have made the playoffs last year as a Wildcard team under the regular postseason format. The expanded playoffs HAD NO BEARING on whether or not the Sox made the playoffs.

Where are you from?  And you’re forgetting Casey’s General Stores brand pizza, lol.

Basically, you could be describing any state going west from Ohio all the way to Denver and SLC if you remove Chicago and Indianapolis...which also gets made fun of.

After having lived in Kansas City for nearly a decade, you can only take so much of long commuting, bbq, fountains and everyone wanting to go to the Plaza when they visit.

That basically just leaves Minneapolis and St. Louis as “decent” cities.

Chicago is one of the great cities of the world, but there’s absolutely nothing between there and the Iowa border.

Iowa is mostly known for friendly people who are (or used to be) willing to do anything for their neighbors...that’s one thing the Midwest has always had going for it.   But when I come back to the States to visit, it seems everyone has gone from size L to XXL.

Hey now, I resemble that comment!

  8. The "negative" posters most times aren't  wrong.

The "positive" posters most times aren't  wrong.

I can read Ragah and VaFan ( just 2 random examples, don't beat me up!) and know that I fall somewhere in between and don't feel the need to call either one of them out for being more positive or more negative than me.

I think we can all agree that ownership and the front office have been less than perfect over the years, and maybe this year even moreso than others.

I think we can all agree that this team is not perfect. There are strengths and weaknesses, alot of coulda woulda shouldas, arguably the most loaded and exciting we've had in years.

Can't we all just get along?

Eloy-related: Yankees keeping Jay Bruce. This leaves Tauchman as the odd man out and possibly easier to get via trade.

Keeping Bruce because Voit is going to the IL. Leaves room for both Bruce and Tauchman on the roster. Essentially, exactly the opposite of what you suggest. Now, Tauchman will make the team and thus, not be available.
