Why’s that?
Lack of maturity.

Thanks for posting. There’s very little power in that swing for Gonzalez.
True but at least it looks like a professional swing instead of that college metal bat swing he had before.

Any chance he does both? If he finds a consistent release point, he is gonna be nasty as a pitcher. I am concerned about the K rate as a hitter, but the power is for real.
If I'm drafting him I'm absolutely sending him out as a 2 way guy and giving him every opportunity to prove he can do both. If he settles in as a power hitting 1B/DH and late inning reliever you have a very special player.

That happens as long at Cease produces a haul of young players in July. If Cease doesn't produce a haul..............................
The Cease trade is obviously a big part of it but without that you can still see a lot of young players on this roster in August and September. Montgomery, Quero, Ramos, Nastrini, Eder, Cannon, Leasure, Bush. etc. They have lots of guys in the upper minors who are more than capable of making the jump to the big leagues.

Opening day: bad
August 1st: bad
No kidding dipshit they were a 100 loss team last year. No one is turning that around overnight but at least after the trade deadline there will a lot of roster turnover and young players worth watching.

Last season, I checked out after May. This season I may very well check out after April. How depressing.
It's not about what the roster is on opening day it's about what the roster will be on August 1. You can check out until then.

Boy do I get the Brecht appeal, but I don't think I would have the balls to pop him at 5th overall. That slider though.
Brecht appeal. I like that.

When Cags hits em they stay hit.

BA with a good read today.
Picked out the portions on Condon, & Honeycutt. There are also writeups on Hagen Smith, Hartle, Santucci, Amick, Brecht, Hurd, Cam Smith, and AJ Russell.
They had a lot of heat at his last game and needless to say they won't be forgetting that performace anytime soon.

You think Getz is raising the floor of the organization with most of these moves? These aren’t big ceiling plays but depth seems better
They're self-scouting. They're getting what they can for players they feel will not be part of the future. People have been wanting them to do this for years.

My guy has had a rough go early this spring but he broke out in a big way today. Let's hope for more days like this ahead.

I assume that means you aren't a fan of him in a corner OF spot.
No sir. 1B only for me.

Get rid of the players you don't think will be part of the future for players you think have a chance to be part of the future. Don't stop now, Boys!

How we feeling about Condon?
One dimensional player. I want someone more dynamic with that pick.

I wish I could say I'm surprised about people getting their panties in a bunch about a live BP session (good lord) on Feb 26 but I'm not.

Despite his control issues, I prefer Cags as a pitcher. What are your thoughts, Harold?
I like him as a hitter and would give him a shot in RF but then I talked to someone whose opinion I greatly respect and he said Cags is by far the best player in this draft and he would absolutely send him out as a two way guy. So now I'm thinkin he can do both. But like I said I don't think it matters cause he ain't gettin to 5.

Cags sitting 95-98 t99 w/a nasty 88-89 slider. DUDE
-
I really like this dude. He's not gonna blow up a radar gun or a rapsodo spreadsheet but he can really pitch. He has a smooth easy repeatable del w/a 4 pitch mix and plus command. It would be great but I don't think he gets to pick 43.

I’d need to be really confident that Cags can play the outfield
or that he can be a 1B/reliever. I don't think it matters. He ain't gettin to 5.
