Many people on this board see no value in a catcher with experience handling a young pitching staff.
Exactly. A clear example of a veteran catcher who is a coach on the field with incredible feel for the game helping a young pitcher get thru a brilliant outing yet everyone is just obsessed with fRaMiNg!!!!!!!! Sheesh

Maldonado told Crochet he was opening up early. He's a better pitching coach than Katz.

But that was literally a strike
because it was inside an imaginary box?

Worst frame attempt ever
There's a saying for catchers. Present strikes and throw back balls. If they try to present every pitch as a strike the umpire will get angry.

Quality snot rocket from Crochet.

I gotta say all this Maldonado stuff is baffling me. I guess I don't see what everyone else is seeing.

Hahn should be re-hired and then fired immediately again for never considering Crochet as a starter, what an epic failure of a GM him and KW were
The same could be said about Lopez. Hahn's obsession with the bullpen was odd to say the absolute least.

What I would do (what I would do) is fire Grifol around the all star break if not sooner and name LaRussa interim manager. I would then hire AJ to be asst manager or bench coach and let let him learn the league and a few things from LaRussa. Then after the season name AJ the manager and kick LaRussa back upstairs. That's what I would do (what I would do).

Whatever gets him 75-85 innings works for me
I think the plan is to get him closer to 100 innings.

If he can take the ball every five days, he’ll have a case as the best lefthanded pitching prospect in the sport
Well Schultz is not going to take the ball every 5th day he's going to take the ball every 7 days. They're taking a college approach by making him a weekly starter. It's an interesting plan.

They had this low ball offer out to him for a while. I honestly can't believe no one would beat it and he finally caved.

He’s got the age factor and if he’s answering questions about his velocity, he’s going to skyrocket
I apologize I thought you were talking about Jake Cousins. It took everything I had not to call you a crazy person.

He might be a better prospect than Thorpe after this year
Come on now, my guy.

Morel just had another misplay at 3B. My kinda off the wall but not really prediction is the Sox trade Moncada to the Cubs.

Yeah you’re right, he’s only thrown about 35 innings since 2021 so letting him go 5-6 innings and 90 pitches right out of the gate is fine, especially if they expect to DL him anyways. I’m not sure what I was thinking with this scorching hot take.
Limiting innings/pitches has done a bang up job of keeping pitchers healthy. I'd ask you what the perfect amount is but no one knows that answer which means you sure as f*** don't know but that won't stop you from the scorching hot take that they're gonna "run him into the ground."

Possible 2nd round target.

0% chance he gets through this season. His start was a real bright spot and it appears they are just going to run him into the ground.
Jesus fucking christ that's not what they're going to do. It's inevitable that he's going to need a dl stint or two due to soreness/tired arm so they're letting him go now and will keep evaluating him as the season goes on. These extereme hot takes are getting tiresome.
