Well you could argue he should've let Hendriks oh I don't know... start the inning.
Maybe. Not sure why we need to hide a guy with such great stuff like Bummer though.

Here comes the big $ man

You want Bummer facing Wade. Its up to him to get him out.
Nope. It's all on Tony.

Like many have said, not a lot of good choices right now. On the road, tie game, need your closer for the save, but your starter went 4.0 so you’ve used a lot of people.
Sounds like Hahn needs to get Tony some better bullpen arms.

So what is the call here? Larussa a clown for leaving Bummer in?

That was a terrible thought process by Nick. Takes 2 fastballs right down the middle. Be fucking aggressive.....you have potential winning run at 2nd
Champman simply overpowered him.

Not at this stage of his career...
Then why give him a 4 year deal?

You're asking for that to happen when you walk the leadoff man in an inning...Ruiz isn't the guy I bring in when I am down one run when I am struggling to score.
Sure but the Sox are paying Dallas Kuechel a pretty big salary. He is supposed to be able to pitch into the 6 or 7th consistently.

Larussa with the great pitch hit call there with Vaughn!

That's what doesn't make sense regarding some of the pitching decisions. When we are struggling to score runs I don't want to see the bottom guys from our bullpen pitching when we are down a run.
Ruiz run was unearned. TA blew it that inning.

1-4 since he practically destroyed the entire vibe around the team says otherwise.
Lmao. Larussa has made some real dumb moves this year but not even Connie Mack could win a series against the Yankees where his team scores 5 runs.

Partially because of the defense behind him...but loading the bases there really was no choice but to pull him.
The terrible call was using Ruiz down only one run, and PHing Leury for Hamilton and going against the splits...leaving a bad outfielder in late in a difficult stadium for subpar CFers.
This game nor series is on Tony. Scoring 5 runs in a 3 game series against the new York Yankees is what is to blame.

The Ray's play the Yanks with swagger.
It's clear as day that the AL East is big boy baseball. The Sox would be a 500 team if they had to rumble in that division.

Only one earned run today.
Just now, southsider2k5 said:Dallas had 2 errors behind him and only gave up 1 run.
True. He only covered 4 innings though.

Dear Tony,
Heuer is better than Ruiz.

TLR had no business putting in Ruiz with our backs against the wall...might ultimately be the deciding run.
Part of the blame has to go on the starting pitching last two games though. Cease and Kuechel both had bad starts and the bullpen is being asked to cover a lot of innings.

Tony has managed so poorly this series. Looking like 1-4 since he was an idiot.
I mean the offense has scored 3 runs all series lol.
Scoring 3 runs a series against the Yankees has always been a fool proof plan throughout history.

LOL he continues to dupe Tony. The guy belongs back in Charlotte or traded.
Bring up Zach Burdi! He will save the bullpen just like he was supposed to 2016!

Adam Eaton is terrible right now. He brings nothing, kind of like our whole outfield
Good thing he will only be here for this year. I guess the Sox long term plan for right field is gonna be either Cespedes or Colas?

So again, you didn't want Mercedes who was older than all 3.
Good lord man. You are right. Zach Burdi is gonna save the bullpen.

Hey a home run!
Been awhile

If people are just focused on winning the division and being the new Twins that is fine but I thought we were aiming higher. Yet some of the more "optimistic" fans simply are happy with things like "run differentials" when we are losing to any actually good team we play. I don't get it.
Agree 100%. The needle has now moved to just compete for a division with a team that has the lowest payroll in baseball and consistently trades away all star level players. I thought the goal of the rebuild was to finally be a franchise that could swim in the deep end with the big boys?

We are clearly not the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Astros, Padres...they can much more easily absorb the losses of two key players with payroll, depth and the minor league talent to replenish via trades.
This is year 5 of the rebuild. Same year the Cubs went on their rampage. Seems like the Sox rebuild is not going nearly as well unfortunately.

Not behind schedule. The injuries are what's fucking it up. Their LF, CF, and 4th OF all on IL doesn't help their depth.
Injuries have hurt for sure but where is the minor league depth? The point of tearing everything down was to accumulate a deep farm system no?
-
Does this rebuild seem way behind schedule to anyone else? I mean no one would have believed you if you told them back in 2017 that the Sox would be running an outfield of Jake Lamb, Adam Eaton, and Billy Hamilton against the Yankees in New York during May of 2021.
