I had to check this multiple times because it seemed fake: The Sox only have 3 more losses than the Astros.

As a fan of snowy games, what an absolute bummer.

This is my favorite thread.

All snark aside...Pedro, this whole "zen trying to mask anxiety" approach you're doing clearly isn't working. FFS try something else man. You literally have nothing to lose.

Looking at the individuals, Maldonado, Benintendi and Vaughn are the worst full-time offenders. Fletcher's over-matched in CF, while he's adequate in RF. DeJong and Lopez are the team leaders. While Sheets is in negative territory at 1B, he's way better than Vaughn.
Dang, I knew Vaughn wasn't exactly good, but I didn't realize he was that bad. Dude brings absolutely nothing to the table right now.

We're still doing this back and forth in every other thread huh.
Anyway, great initial post to the thread. Reality is a bummer.

I think the Sox win today, though.
Good job

The Twins are bad. If I squint hard enough I can see a series split, but games 2, 3 and 4 can also be no hitters for the Minnesota. I think the Sox win today, though.

Paul Konerko's statue.
Jerry gets to milk the success of the 2005 team some more, plus it allows him him to stay internal and not talk to anyone new during the interview and hiring process.

So maybe today is the day the no hitter happens

Just seems to be a super intense guy that rubs a lot of people the wrong way. It’s the same guy that slapped Joc Pederson in the face (lmao) because of a fantasy football league game
Sounds like another veteran that Pedro will be scared of.

Juggling so much talent is very difficult. Pining for Danny Mendick has to be rock bottom.
I don’t think we’re even close to rock bottom yet.

Well we did score more runs last night than the Sox have in their last 7 games combined.
Yeah but how’s your team culture?

JR’s teams absolutely thriving today.
I'd say he deserves this, but we all know he gives zero shits.

Yeah, that was the point I was making. 🙄
He said that lot of his off the field decisions kind of interrupted a lot of things. He then says, “we” understood that. Who is “we”? It’s like he’s trying to share the blame with others rather than owning up to it.
I don't know how you interpret that quote that way unless you're actively trying to interpret it that way.

I'm sure JR would just use some phony ass rationalization that "big strides" were made this year that couldn't have been made if they went outside the organization.
-
I will say, at least Pedro is moving guys around instead of stubbornly keeping them in the same spot in the lineup.

At what point do we stop rooting for actual competitive players to be traded away for prospects that may or may not work out, and start actually rooting for winning baseball? Like I understand the rationale behind it, but we already did this once. Under the same ownership. It did not work. I guess people think this is the only hope this team has but, if Jerry didn't let it be successful the first time, why the hell would he let it be successful the second time?
For me, it’s hoping that:
1) Player development will improve enough where you have waves of talent supplementing the major league roster instead of relying on the same few players to stay healthy and blossom into superstars year after year.
2) The money that JR does allow to be spent will be allocated better aka not spending 50 trillion dollars on the bullpen.

Get both brothers. That family has some good baseball genes.

How would you like to have in your job description "explain every why your bunch of mediocre fielders that are mostly hitting under Mendoza just lost again."
I'm not saying he's not an idiot, but how many losses can he be blamed for this season? Yes, he comes off as defensive. Wouldn't you or I?
Sure, but a big part of a manager's job is handling the media and being the main communicator of the team's status and overall message. He is awful at it.

As far as I can tell there isn't a single member of the media wishing for the downfall of the franchise because that is an emotional response not an objective one.
Like a media member I chhose to remain objective and keep my emotions out of it.
Appreciate the thoughtful post, but I'm hung up on something. Are you saying you remain objective and keep emotions out of both the lows AND the highs of the franchise? Or that you can flip a switch to block out the lows but still experience the highs?

Depends. If it's a right click, you just go to Edit and increase all his attributes.
