  1. I was surprised he made it out of last inning
  2. Fandom is so fascinating because we can see the exact same results and have completely different reactions to them. I’m over here thinking that I wouldn’t blame someone if they were elated to be competing with the team in sole possession of first place in the division after three long years of historically abysmal baseball.
  3. If you hate to say it you could just, you know, not say it. No need to victory lap a serious injury.
  4. Not exactly sure what you’re trying to say here. I’ve been to Oracle. It’s amazing. And the logistics are not disrupted by the canal/bay in any way.
  5. Personally, I don’t even get into the WBC that much. The part I really love about it is how much the players seem to enjoy it. And if the players (who clearly understand the risk involved) are that into it, who am I to say they shouldn’t be participating?
  6. Nah. Until it’s written in a player’s contract that they can’t participate in the WBC, I’m 100% in favor of their choice to play for their country.
  7. What about Antonacci, who did not get hurt during the WBC? Is he Italian enough for you to have played for Team Italy or is he also American?
  8. Hot take: Both Quero’s celebration and all of PCA’s antics are great. Baseball is better when players are showing personality and having fun.
  9. Isn’t that a reason to have his bat in the lineup tomorrow?
  10. Eh I just think there’s a nearly endless list of valid things to criticize the Sox for and this isn’t one of them.
  11. Dang, that sucks for Robert. Was really hoping he’d have a healthy and productive season on a winning team.
  12. How is a pitcher with an arm injury a uniquely White Sox thing?
  13. Teel yes. Hays I anticipate will be like Tauchman, on and off the injured list all season.
  14. That feels like way too high of a bar IMO. There’s no reason it CAN’T be that good, but I don’t necessarily think it NEEDS to be. It’s such a great site that I actually think it’ll be pretty hard to screw up.
  15. This is true, and I totally get the reality of the situation. But until they actually show that they can pull off the Rays/Brewers thing, might as well let yourself get excited about the rare bright spots that appear in the present day. It makes the existence of being a Sox fan slightly less miserable IMO.
  16. If you won’t allow yourself to get excited about Schultz because of those reasons, I truly don’t understand the point of following the Sox at all right now.
  17. Fandom gatekeeping is the dumbest s%*#.
  18. No one was gloating about it, just like no one is happily accepting losing. Deep breaths, y’all. We all want the same thing.
  19. The dreaded “Show more”
  20. Not a getaway game (they play again tomorrow), but I get that most Sox games can feel like getaway games.
  21. Solid call. I like the Orioles PBP guy. Plus you’ll probably learn more about the Sox than you would on their own broadcast.
  22. Not sure I understand the Wrigley and Fenway hate. What about them makes them overrated? Season tickets to either obviously lessens the charm as you deal with seating, sight line, etc issues on a regular basis, but I always think of ballpark rankings based on relatively few visits rather than what it would be like to regularly attend games there. Wrigley and Fenway are both really unique experiences and I totally get why they’re bucket list destinations and always near the top of lists.
  23. This was one of my criticisms of him in his first year and it doesn’t seem like he’s gotten any better. He calls games like it’s our hometown heroes vs a bunch interchangeable nameless enemies who don’t deserve to be recognized. And if he does say something about an opposing player, it sounds like he’s reading straight from the intro section of their Wikipedia page. Broadcasts are so much better when you can feel a little extra drama and a different energy based on who the opponent is. When the Sox are playing the Marlins, I want it to feel like Sox vs Marlins, not Sox vs <insert opponent here>.
  24. What a bum that he couldn’t even homer on his first AB of the season.
  25. Yes, known terrible human Jason Benetti.
