Not a hill I’m willing to die on by any means, BUT…they clearly made this all star game even more of a wacky spectacle than years past. And in the spirit of that, a bomb of a home run is way more fun than a two run first inning single.

I guess the point I was making is that I don’t think they’re one SP away from being serious contenders, so I’m good with standing pat instead of making shortsighted moves. You’re playing with house money this year. With that said, I definitely don’t mind the Detmers move since he wouldn’t be just a two month rental.

Good breakdown. If they’re committing to being buyers, I really think they need to add more than one SP, which seems very unlikely. I just don’t see this current SP group holding it together down the stretch.

Eh I think they’re playing with house money this season. Sure, it’d obviously be great if they stayed competitive and made the playoffs. I don’t think it’s the colossal failure you’re making it out to be if they don’t, though.

Yup and yup. I think many things are probably true. I think they were overachieving a little with a flawed roster. I think they could really use the all star break to rest and reset. And I also think they’re just having a bad series on top of all that because that’s baseball.

I think it’s a little of both.
