  1. Simply put and well said. I feel like this is the motto of several Chicago sports teams.
  2. If this is truly just for 2025 and ignoring any larger context, I don’t see how a 102 loss team can get a grade higher than a D. The only exception would be if their star players were hurt for much of the season, but they weren’t really hit that hard with injuries and they don’t have any star players.
  3. The article does well in outlining how much of an uphill battle the org still faces, but I just can’t take comments like this seriously: “We are to celebrate the heartiness of 60 wins and bypass the obvious cancers still remaining” JFC no one’s saying you need to do either of these things. So damn dramatic.
  4. Yeah I don’t really get this. Going from historically bad to just very bad is obviously not a reason to be content or satisfied, but it’s very clearly progress. Now if you wanna say it wasn’t enough progress, sure, I’d go along with that.
  5. Yeah that’s fair. In a vacuum, the 81-81 season is obviously easier to watch. Taking context into consideration, this season felt like watching a toddler trip over itself while learning to walk, while the 2022 season felt like watching a runner trip over themselves while trying to cross the finish line.
  6. I have no idea if this is a hot take, but all things considered I think this season has been significantly "less awful" than the 2022 season. That year, they finished 81-81. It was the year of fully squandering whatever potential was left and coming to the realization that the core they spent years rebuilding was not going to lead them to success.
  7. The two that come to mind are the Angels (consistently ranked as a bottom 5 or so ballpark) and Royals (already planning a move to a new stadium).
  8. My man, I’m a fan of a sports team. The only question I’m really asking is when will they be good again?
  9. Hopefully, but I’m not optimistic at all. I really don’t get how they went into the season with this as their RB room. Their main back would be a change of pace back on any other team.
  10. I think "post championship" is doing more heavy lifting here than "no dan ryan." If you have to rely almost solely on the team being championship caliber to draw well, then your ballpark is just not really that attractive.
  11. What in the WiFi passwords am I looking at here? 😵‍💫
  12. Eerily similar to the Sox and Cleveland in 05. 15.5 game lead trimmed to 1.5 in late September. Then the Sox told them to shut up.
  13. Ok, things getting REAL spicy now.
  14. Big fan of the Mets, Phillies and Padres booths for this reason.
  15. Whoa now. Are you trying to tell me TLR 2.0 wasn’t a massive success?
  16. Out of curiosity, what kind of broadcaster does not suck to you?
  17. Yeah, must be that. Couldn’t possibly be a reference to someone like Getz, the poster boy of privilege.
  18. What fun to have both the broadcaster and the team on the same development path of maybe being good by 2029.
  19. To be fair, there's literally a thread here and many other posts about whether they'll get to 100 losses or not, so I think it is a story worth attention on the broadcast. But, to your point, I do expect the coverage of it to be completely in your face and lacking any awareness or tact. There's a right way to acknowledge that story without being a complete salesperson for the team.
  20. My favorite part about it is that nicknaming someone christmas because they smile a lot doesn't even make sense.
  21. It's funny. You have the Sox and Bulls who have bad luck with draft positioning. And then you have the Bears who are gifted high draft picks only to not know how to make them work. Funny, I tell ya. Hilarious. 🫠
  22. Being positive is fine, but there's a way to do it that feels authentic and not like you're being sold a defective product. He's improved since last season, but until he can do this effectively it'll remain a rough broadcast.
  23. It goes both ways. Below is an annoyingly common type of post here. It’s really not that hard to acknowledge progress without “celebrating.”
  24. Baldwin, eh whatever, but I don't agree at all with Quero's value going down already. He's a rookie catcher at the end of his longest season in professional ball.
