Madrigal's noodle arm and little leaguer's range and game awareness isn't missed at all. The contact was great but that's all. Cesar being here IMO really showed some people who forgot what you should expect in arm strength and range at 2B. But we definitely need some good ABs. Unfortunately Cesar has been Leury-like in his ABs except without Leury's luck.

Even if the pen stops the Asstros at 2 runs, we still need to score another 2 runs to win. Our pitchers can't do anything to help as far as that goes.

If we had Cy Rodon in game 1, we're up 1-0 with a 2-1 deficit in the 4th in game 2 on the road right now. Totally different circumstances. Our lineup is a front-runners lineup. We need a lead or at least some runs on the board for our offense to have their confidence. We don't have many of those LeMahieu, Gardner types of players. TA is one but we don't have many. We really fail to put together tough ABs consistently. It's funny BTW to watch a rookie in Sheets come up there and put together better ABs than the vets. Same was true with Yermin.

They have a couple of question marks, like D behind the plate, problems with young hitters learning at the plate, etc. Every team in baseball has warts. Great, ours are more on display. But HOU has their warts, too. A 2 run HR changes things very quickly and that Framber fuckhead hung a curveball in the middle of the plate first pitch to Vaughn. He can't do that stuff forever.

To be fair, he can't catch for Grandal or hit for the hitters. But whatever field TLR's surplus value is supposed to exist inside of, I haven't seen it all year. His comments on Yermin compared to Ozzie showed he's a better player's manager than Ozzie (so is like every other guy who has ever managed in the bigs except for like Bevington) but other than that, I fail to see an area where TLR gives us an advantage.

If Hahn goes but JR and KW are still here then how is that better at all? At best things are the same, at worst it's even worse. At least Hahn can negotiate a contract.

I don't think so. The Rays out-position you, out-scout you, out-pitch you, out-manage, and out-defend you. The Sox have been a mediocre at best team all year as far as getting the most out of the talent the Sox have on the field. We'd need the Rays to make mistakes. Lots of them.

It's just bad D and shitty ABs with RISP. We've seen this shit all year long. Asstros aren't even the cream of the crop in the AL. I'm glad we're playing them and not the Rays, Giants or Dodgers. We're in the second tier down and we need our guys to overachieve to win anything.

Yeah you're probably correct. But they should be in on the bidding for an ace. My bet is that Scherzer goes to the Red Sox or Dodgers. After that we'll see. Our best shot is probably Rodon. Maybe this is all dead arm / come back season and then in 2022 he'll finallybe the guy we all thought we were getting when he was drafted. But that's probably our best shot. And even still I'm already bracing for the KW "can't spend a dollar when you only have 50 cents" comment in regards to Rodon.

I wonder what Haniger would have cost at the time. Y2Jimmy said that the Kimbrel package probably wouldn't have been enough. I also wonder how much the Marlins really love Luzardo. Maybe he was teh best player available but what do they really think of him? Haniger or Marte in RF would look great ATM.
