So much will depend on how much of a roll Ishbia has. When all is said and done, winning orgs build a roster with a contingency plan if things go wrong. Loser orgs create a roster based on wishful thinking and best case scenarios.

I think Newcombe is an interesting scenario. He wants to start, and did pretty well when given the chance to be an opener. I think if you can sign him as a starter at a quasi-reliever salary, it makes a lot of sense.

Reduce mound height. Move mound back 4-5 feet. And expand strike zone as minor offset.

Venable in post game said he gave zero thought to pinch hitting Grichuk for Mune with bases loaded. I think that may be fireable alone. While I feel he did a good job of getting a lot out of a young team and keeping them loose during the season, I have to wonder if he is the right guy to get us from point A to point D (WS champs).

That’s the problem. It would have been ballsy, but Venable doesn’t have the balls to do it.

While they did surprise us with an overachieving season, this historically inept offensive performance to lose this series, pretty much overrides any good vibes from the season. And they need to be called out for it. You can’t take playoff appearances for granted. This might be the only playoff appearance these guys see in their careers.

I don’t know if I have even seen one Sox hitter actually track the ball to contact, or where the point of contact should be. They are pulling their head of the ball like pony leagers.

The hitless wonders reboot. Could also call them the witless wonders too, with their plate approach. What has the Sox hitting coach been doing the last 2 months?
