I couldn't watch the game but followed along online.
I think Cease will always give this team a chance to win, even when he doesn't have his best stuff.
Hanser is already better than Leury...offensively anyway.
Lopez nailed it down. That's encouraging.

Holy f*** what a bad call.

Terrible slide by Cruz. Not sure what Santana was pissed about.
-
f*** this team.

It’s game number 8 and I’m sick of this team. Pitching is atrocious.
-
Robert is so damn strong.
-
Who had Clevinger as the team’s second best starter on their bingo card?

God these guys suck.

Why are we crying about this move? It's a minor league deal, and if can be of any use, that's great. If not, no big deal.
At least they recognized that Ruiz sucks and were quick to let him go.

Done. See ya tomorrow.

Vaughn showing them how to do it.

Oh geez. RISP with less than two outs. I can't look.
-
And tomorrow they go to Pittsburgh to face a hot Pirates team.

What is it with this team? Same s%*# as last year.

Hard to complain about a series split at Houston. However, the Sox had a chance to win all four games. The lack of hitting with runners in scoring position is frustrating, and the bullpen is shaky.
Lots of good stuff, though.
Moncada looks like a completely different player.
Luis looks healthy, and the home run yesterday was really nice to see.
All four starters looked solid.
Yaz looks healthy.
Vaughn with a couple clutch hits.
Bummer's inning yesterday...would like to see more of that!
Lopez in a save situation was good. Not so much in a non-save situation. -
Game 1 of 162, and I was already stressed out. This is going to be a fun and anxious season.
Cease was downright masterful. He looked completely composed, and had three pitches working. Hell of a performance.
Grandal looked much better than last year behind the plate, and the much-needed bomb was beautiful.
Moncada looks better. He looks engaged and excited to be playing baseball. I think the WBC was a great thing for him.
Vaughn's clutch double was fucking beautiful. 'Nuff said.
Bullpen was decent. Lopez throwing 100 with ease was really nice to see. He made it interesting but didn't fall apart after the home run.
Great game. Huge win.

I'm going to be cautiously optimistic. This should be a close, low scoring game, but something tells me it's going to spin out of control early...maybe in the 3rd inning, with one team blowing it open. Then the trailing team will score late and come up just short. Final score 8-6, somebody.
Regardless, there will be much swearing and fist-shaking tonight.

Sox win the division with 90 wins. Twins and Guardians are close all season, but the Sox pull away at the end.
They finally win a playoff series but lose to the Astros in the AL championship.
Vaughn hits 30+ HRs.
Eloy stays relatively healthy and hits 40+ HRs.
Benintendi has a BA better than .300 and hits 10+ HRs.
TA tears it up and has a career year.
Moncada returns to form a bit. Bats .280, slugs 25+ HRs, and plays stellar defense.
Cease, Giolito, and Lynn all pitch well. Kopech struggles early before settling down and pitches well down the stretch. Clevinger is hot and cold but is serviceable as a #5.
Hendriks returns in mid-June. -
With Alberto performing so well in spring training, you'd have to think he makes the team. And if that's the case, the Sox don't need Leury. At this point, the money owed to him doesn't matter. It's a sunk cost anyway. I'd love to see the Sox be ballsy and DFA him. Maybe he can be traded away with the Sox eating a big chuck of his salary.
Seby is a certainty. For a fourth OF, I would think Hamilton might have the edge because of his defense and speed. I suppose Sheets might have the last spot, but it will be interesting to see what happens with Burger.

Leury Garcia For A Day - Play an inning in the field or go in as a pinch runner. Play poorly and be rewarded with $15 million.
Swearing and Screaming Night With Lance Lynn - Fans get a chance to go toe-to-toe with Lance Lynn, yelling at each other
Sprinting With Billy Hamilton - Fans can challenge Billy to suicide sprints in the outfield. First one to blow a hamstring loses.
Eloy For a Day - Fans charge headlong into the outfield wall until they either knock themselves unconscious or tear a tit.

The negativity here is obsessive and disease-worthy. I would tell them to take up soccer. If you come here to hate on your team every day something is wrong.
After being pessimistic and grumpy for far too long, I decided to be more hopeful. I was just getting too angry. I recognize that the team should be better constructed, but that's not on the players. I do feel pretty good about the 2023 team, knowing that a lot of stuff has to go right. But a s%*# ton of stuff went wrong last year, and they still ended up at .500.

So Tony should have been relieved of his duties much sooner then he was and Anderson and Abreu proved to not be leaders in the clubhouse. How does the organization let that play out until late in the season.
Sounds like JR's hiring of Tony may actually have taken years off Tony's life.
Yeah, reading that article, it seems like the Sox did TLR a dis-service by not intervening and telling him he needed to step away and take care of himself.

I wouldn't have thought he had played that many games. And I think that's because, as you mentioned, he always seems to be wincing and limping and showing signs of being hurt. Either he's dramatic and is not in as much pain as he shows, or he plays hurt a lot. I actually think it's both. He definitely seems dramatic at times, especially when he takes a big swing or fouls a ball of his body. But he plays hard, especially defensively, and probably is banged up at times.
