  1. How much of his team's cap does he take? How badly do you want to win T-Mac? Badly enough like Karl Malone to play for less money so they can go get some players?
  2. I'll take an OBP of almost .400 from a guy who's struggling. He'll still hit 35 HR, drive in about 100, and hit his .270. His OBP will be over .400 again, and he'll score almost a 100 runs. That is called a good deal for 6 million.
  3. And as I said, IF they find Bonds was using steroids, and not supplements to get his bulk, then I agree he should be stripped of records. McGwire was skinny his rookie year and got huge.....Bonds and some other players may have done the same. It'll all come out sooner or later.
  4. I agree with the stat doctor. Love Maggs, but 4 for 56 is more than fair. If he decides that he wants the money to play in Boston or New York, then we'll just have to spend the 14 million on pitching and a shortstop. We should have help coming form the minors soon in the outfield.
  5. BTW, is McGwire a disgrace to the game as well? I can say that I'm pretty sure he was taking supplements, which I'm sure Bonds has too. I'll be curious to see if the steroids were part of his "diet". If so, he should definitely be stripped of every record he has broken.
  6. Again, I'm not disagreeing with you on the fact that Magglio is purely a total class act. My only question is, is that class worth putting into a situation where we might not be able to afford that one extra reliever or help down the road that could help us? 10 million difference over 5 years is quite a bit. I just think the 12 to 12.5 million area is about right. There are some other classy players on that list too besides Bonds that are making less, even just after signing extensions. I'm just trying to look at this rationally, without necessarily drinking my White Sox Kool AId:).
  7. Again, IF Frank said this recently, he is a total moron. There are players out there that hit .300, and drive in 100 runs who don't make a ton more than the 6 million he's making. If he's worth so much, why wasn't there a big calling for him when he was allowed to shop around a year or two ago in free agency? Be happy with your 6 million, and just learn to budget slightly like some of us regualr people do!
  8. I love Maggs too, but what are we all going to be saying in a year or two when we don't have any money for pitching? Also, I love that fact that Maggs just goes out and does his job, but there are tons of other players out there with similar stats (G. Anderson, B. Giles, L. Berkman, etc) that make around the 12.5 million the Sox are offering. I have no problem offering 60 million for 5 years, but not 70. He is not in the same class as a Barry Bonds, Albert Pujols.
