  1. Not to tangent off the subject, but yeah - Rockford sucks ass. I mean, growing up there as a kid and through high school was fine - no complaints there. But, I just always felt Rockford had a big black cloud hanging over it. Almost no culture diversity at all, although I did go to school all my life with a decent mix of race, etc. It just sucks. I go back to visit family and that's it. At least Rockford DOES show every Sox game on TV, which is a damn good thing for me while I'm there and the Sox are playing. If all they had was Cubs games, they can forget my visits!
  2. That's cool. I just started being a huge Sox fan about 5 years ago. Baseball has never been a fave of mine ... until I discovered how much I love watching and pulling for the White Sox. So, I like hearing old-school stories from fans who have been following them longer.
  3. Well, I was 11 years old in 1983, but my priorities at that time were Motley Crue, Ratt, Ozzy Osbourne, and all things heavy metal. Besides, I grew up in Rockford, which does have its share of Sox fans, but since it's more northwest, its mostly a Cubs town - another reason Rockford sucks and I'll never live there again! Wait - in Baltimore? You mean the Sox never even got a home game for that series?
  4. The 1983 season was WAY before my time as a huge Sox fan. So, I was wondering if anyone here actually went to a playoff game against the Orioles in 1983 and what their memories of that game and/or season are. Thanks. LET'S GO SOUTH SIDE SOX!
  5. My observation is that the whole reason for having Maggs bat 3rd and Frank bat cleanup is the fact that once Maggs gets on base, he's obviously much faster on the basepaths than Frank is, therefore that's why Ozzie did it that way. Watching Frank gallop around the bases when he has to haul ass is kinda funny. Frank is a mountain of a dude - he looks more like an NFL d-lineman than a baseball player. I'd stay with Maggs batting 3rd and Frank at cleanup. But, whatever works and brings more White Sox wins will work for us!
  6. Frankly, I could care the hell less what the Cubs do. The Cubs are not my concern. The Twins are my concern. If I even stumble across a Cubs game on TV, I find watching them to be utterly amusing. I have NEVER seen a team and it's fans and players so stressed out beyond the point of oblivion. It's ridiculous. Oh - you've got high expectations after being 4 outs from your first World Series since 1945? Okay - I understand high expectations - that's normal after a team has a good previous season. But this is absurd. Cubs pitchers look like the veins in their necks are gonna explode after about two innings. Has anyone EVER even seen Kerry Wood smile? Please. This is just a small example of why being a White Sox fan is so enjoyable. We can go to Sox Park and enjoy the game with plenty of room to walk around and not have any of the chaotic crap that goes on at Wrigley. The Sox haven't won the World Series since 1917. Um, yeah - that sorta sucks, but you don't see us Sox fans freaking out like the world is gonna end. As a die-hard White Sox fan, I take pride in knowing that when we lose, we simply move on, call it a game and look forward to the next one. When the Cubs lose, they do nothing but blame it on black cats in the alley, Billy the Goat, and some ridiculous dork named Bartman. What a bunch of sissy-assed crybabys. Too fu*king bad. Deal with it.
  7. I'm going on the 26th. I gotta sit in some dumbass luxury skybox thing, but the ticket was free, so I'll just shut the hell up and be happy I'm there. GO SOUTH SIDE SOX!
  8. Well, we the fans do pay our money to go to the games, so we should be able to have SOME input, even if it's minimal. But, I agree - the players should be picked by their fellow peers who play the game with them. Good call.
  9. Thanks for the kind welcoming me to the board, fellas. This board looks way better than the Sox ezboard site. I plan to stick around. Sweet.
  10. This was great to see. People make such a dumb big deal about the neighborhood and Bridgeport being this and that. Whatever. I'd much rather go to Sox Park and hang out with a bunch of REAL baseball fans, than go to Wrigley Field and sit next to some 22-year-old accountant assh0le who's blabbering away on his cell phone about his 3-flat in Lakeview and his Volvo in the parking space. The Cubs and most of their fans make me want to hurl chunks of puke. I won't shed a tear if I never set foot in Wrigley Field again. It's just full of stuck-up wanna-be's who need every 5th person in their life to think they're cool because they went to a Cubs game, or something. Afterwards, you just go to the same stupid bars you've already been to a hundred times and blow another $100 for no reason other than "to look cool being in Wrigleyville". Please. Spare me. I'd rather watch flies mate and paint dry than go to another lame-assed Cubs game. It's great to see more people are coming to Sox Park. It figures. In Chicago, major league baseball is played on the south side. Minor league ball gets played on the north side. Oh well - not our problem. :headshake
