  1. ... I think, is that sometimes I get the impression that marquee, big-time players don't want to come here for whatever reason. If an agent tells a player they're going to Chicago, if they think it's the Cubs, they probably do backflips and get all happy to play in Wrigley Field, or some bulls***. If an agent brings up playing for the White Sox, something tells me the player wouldn't be so excited about it, and just be like, "blah". Does anybody else feel the same way? This is really frustrating for me - I want it to get to the point where great players WANT to wear the White Sox uniform. Winning and winning consistently is the only thing that's gonna let that happen.
  2. Steve Stone is by far one of the brightest baseball minds in the game. I would LOVE to see him with the Sox in ANY capacity. I hope the Cubs wind up with egg all over their faces over that one.
  3. I sure hope we hear something to get excited about after Tuesday.
  4. I wouldn't touch Jermaine Dye. The dude hasn't been 100% healthy since his freshman year of high school! No joke.
  5. Ah, gotcha. Sorry. I really wasn't aware of this whole December 7 thing and all of this arbitration bally-hoo. Thanks for clearing that up. Enjoy some football? As a life-long Packer fan who is spoiled to still have Brett Favre after going through the Lynn Dickey, Randy Wright, etc. years - yes I am enjoying some football as of late. Thanks. No insult to Wyoming intended - simply making a point about the Sox always approaching things like a small-market team.
  6. I know it's the offseason and it's a slow time, but is there a specific day or something until we can start signing free agents? I get a little miffed when I see threads in here saying that Peter Gammons reports we signed Jarret Wright and there's deals pending with the Marlins, etc. and then go to the Sox main site and see nothing but month-old news. I get a little annoyed when I hear Reinsdorf let KW raise team payroll, yet all we've done is let some people go and sign Garland. Hip-hip-horray. :headshake What is the holdup? Why are we sitting on our asses? Sorry to rant, but it would be nice to see a little more motivation from the front office and a sense of urgency to beat other teams out to sign players that will put the Sox ahead of the rest of the teams in our division. This is Chicago, the 3rd-largest city in the country, not some f***ing map dot in Wyoming. It's time to start acting like it. Cripes.
  7. I went to 9 games this year. Wanted to get to as many as I could because I am soon moving to Nashville, Tennessee. So, I'll have to get the baseball package to watch the Sox starting next year, or just head over to sports bar that shows it. But, don't worry - you can bet I'll hang a Sox flag on the porch to REPRESENT THE SOUTH SIDE SOX! The Sox are the only Chicago sports team I'm a fan of, so leaving the Sox will be the only hard part about leaving Chicago. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to living in Music City USA and just a 4 hour drive from the Smoky Mountains. Nashville is only an 8-hour drive from here, so I'm sure I'll make it back up for a few games next year.
  8. That was hilarious! The bottom has fell out from under the Cubs. How important is their lame sweep of us looking now? Even though the White Sox winning and the Twins losing is what matters the most, it is extra gratifying to see the Cubs and their fans all pissed off. I love it. It took what, 6 Cubs players/coaches to restrain Hawkins and get him into the dugout after he was about to go after the umpire? The dumbass gives up two zingers and chooses to blame the umps. Typical Cubs. If it isn't the umps, it's Billy The Goat, black cats in the alley, or some ridiculous dork named Bartman.
  9. Agreed. Great deal for the Sox. Super sweet.
  10. Wow - that was awesome. It's not too often that a member of upper management takes the time to address the season ticket holders and the fans DIRECTLY. Great move, KW. Keep it up!
  11. Wow - that is rare and very kickass! I'm not sure what name/number I'd like to get on my 1983 road jersey. I'm thinking of Baines, Luzinsky, or Guillen. I'm in no rush. As for my 2001 home vest jersey - I'd like to get Ordonez, but I'm waiting to see what the hell happens with him.
  12. Well, I'm not sure what you mean by the jerseys are easy to clean, but NEVER, EVER throw your jersey into the washing machine or the dryer for God's sake. Authentic and replica jerseys that have any tackle-twill (sewn-on) numbers or letters should be dry-cleaned ONLY. If you throw those in the washing machine and God forbid the dryer, the emblems, numbers, and nameplates/letters will become wrinkled and all f***ed up. Sure, you could iron them flat, but why even monkey around with all that crap? I just dry-clean my jerseys once a year, unless they get beer or food spilled on them. I mean - come on. As long as you wear a shirt underneath your jersey, there's really no reason to wash them that often. That's the shirt that can get all sweaty - NOT the jersey!
  13. EXACTLY Besides - you can just get a jersey off of eBay with no name and number and Grandstand can customize it for you. Not sure what they charge. Remember - the Sox use double-tackle-twill lettering and numbering, which means two layers/colors of cloth. I want to get Ordonez on my vest jersey, but I ain't taking no chances until they sign him to a long-term deal.
  14. Good topic. I own a 1983 throwback grey road jersey with no name/number on the back - that thing was a bit pricey at $140 or whatever it was. Check eBay. I just got an authentic 2001 home alternate (white jersey vest with black shirt underneath that has the Comiskey Park patch on one sleeve and the 1901-2001 Charter Member patch on the other - got it for a mere $50! If I were you, I'd get that one - the vest jersey is super kickass. The black ones are cool, but man they would be hot to wear at a summer day home game! You can get the home vest jersey on the Sox web site or mvp.com for $100 - getting Takatsu's name/number would be extra. Check eBay for jerseys if you want to save some $$$.
  15. Absolutely. This 5-game slide is discouraging, but most playoff teams don't even hit their peaks and hot streaks until after the All-Star break, anyway. It's still a LONG season to go. Not to sound cliche here, but just refer back to the 1969 Cubs. Last week of August, they were 12.5 games in 1st place ahead of the Mets. Exactly 4 weeks later, they were 6 games out of 1st place, behind the Mets.
  16. Not to go off on a tangent with this thread, but METALLISOX - that picture of Sharapova with a banana in her mouth is HOT! Where the hell did you find that? I'm normally not big on blondes, I prefer brunettes, but Sharapova is hot as hell. I'm so glad she won, because it just makes Kournakova look even more stupid and worthless. Kournakova tried saying one time that she's better looking than Elizabeth Hurley. Um, no you stupid b!tch with the crooked teeth - you're not even close to being as hot as Hurley. Quit dreaming. Anyway - nice pic.
  17. Well, I know most of you people hate Mariotti, but his column today is correct - plain and simple, the Sox offense is overall better with Maggs in it. It just seems to have more chemistry and clicks better when Maggs is in the lineup. The stats don't lie.
  18. IlliniKrush - I agree with your plea. Talking about eating "peed-upon snow cones" and "eating hot poop" does not entice me to futher this thread, either. Moving on ... if KW can miraculously get Maggs signed before the All-Star break, that wold be pivotal to the rest of this season, yet alone the future. This way Maggs can relax, not worry about some bulls*** $$$ cloud hanging over his head, and just go out and play baseball. I'm not sure what bothers me more - Maggs trade rumors or the possibility of losing him and getting nothing in return. Both options are not very cool.
  19. Okay, thanks. Yeah, I have NO problem with Gload at the plate. But, you guys are right - he is absolutely lost in the outfield. It's as if Ozzie's trying to put a puzzle piece in a place that doesn't even come close to fitting right. Not good. Gload makes Rowand look like a Gold-Glover out there.
  20. By the way - someone fill me in - what is Gload's natural position? I never really followed him until he got to the Sox.
  21. Yeah, I was sort of waiting for someone to bring this up. I like Ross Gload, but his play in the Cubs series last weekend PISSED ME OFF. That was horrible. You cannot win baseball games consistently unless you are playing SMART baseball. This is the big leagues. If Gload is gonna prance around like a moron and drop routine fly balls out there because he didn't position himself right - get him out of there. The close grand slam he almost hit was nice, but baseball is offense and defense. We are in a legitimate pennant race - I've got NO TIME to see this kind of bulls*** this year. It's time to pull your head out of your ass and get your f***ing ducks in a row. I agree completely - Gload in RF is not paying dividends. OUT, OUT, OUT!
  22. Agreed - no need to apologize. You guys work your asses off on this site. It's the best White Sox page on the web. Thanks for all your hard work.
  23. Yep. I can totally see DJ kicking it with a Phillies and cranking some Cypress Hill in his SUV before he heads on up to the booth.
  24. Me and some buddies were pondering this the other day, and ... does anyone else wonder if DJ smokes some kind bud and gets totally baked before he goes on the air? I mean, his eyes ALWAYS look all glassy and half-assed open when we see him on TV. Perhaps that's just the way his eyes are, but I don't know. Makes me wonder if DJ sparks a fatty and even Hawk doesn't know about it.
