Did anyone have ESPN News on in the last hour or so?

 

A buddy just emailed me the following:

Peter Gammons just reported on ESPN News that the Sox did sign J. Wright - 2 year 10M contract and mutual option for a third year.

 

They're close on two other deals - one brings Dye for a 2 year contract worth 8.5 million.

 

The other is a three way deal that would bring Luis Castillo to Chicago

 

Sox get:

Luis Castillo, 2B

Scott Posednik, CF

 

Milwaukee gets

Brian Anderson

Florida Prospect

 

Marlins get:

Carlos Lee

WRIGHT VORP 40.8

 

total added VORP = 96.6

 

LEE VORP = 46.8

 

total subtracted VORP = 46.8

 

added VORP = 39.8

 

Salaries added - Wright $5 M, Castillo $4.7 M, Dye $4.25 M = $14M

 

Salaries subtracted - Lee $8.5 M

 

Net salary added = $5.5 million

 

This would be a fantastic set of deals.

If he had castillo and podsednik batting 1-2 in the line-up i do not know many teams that can touch that. We woulkd still have possibly six 25 homerun guys still.

Ohh well...I liked the Wright deal and the Dye signing but there is no way in hell we should trade Brian Anderson and C. Lee.
