  1. This offense has gone into a huge slump since Abreu DP on Saturday. PK taking so many fastballs right down the plate.
  2. Not a lot of fans again tonight
  3. What channel is this on directv
  4. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 11:48 PM) I know resident Mizzou fans on this board must be pumped about Haith leaving. Brian Gregory seems like a great fit for Missouri!!
  5. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 08:36 PM) I am just fine with his management of the 8th. You have to send the message that you're not going to tolerate relievers coming in and walking people. You would think that, as you flipped through the rolodex, SOMEONE would HAPPEN to not suck...but it didn't. That says much more about the bullpen than Robin. I am totally in favor of him putting his foot down, even if it costs us a game. Accountability has to come from the manager at this point. I have no problem with him removing those guys...the bigger problem I had was why was it those guys in and not Webb or Lindstrom?
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 07:25 PM) I'm not saying Robin is a great manager, but yesterday has to be on the pitchers. That amount of walks is just flat out unacceptable and really tied Robin's hands. I also had zero issue with him not having a SP go in. Some games you have to eat for the greater good, that ended up being one of them. The most puzzling in-game move by the Sox was not throwing a 2 strike offspeed pitch to Sizemore in the 9th. Instead, they kept calling for high fastballs. In a spot where you want either a strike out or ground ball, I thought the pitch selection was ridiculous.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 07:21 PM) Hey greg, remember that world series game when Ozzie ran out of pitchers and had to bring in Mark Buehrle for the save? It happens. You cant plan for extra innings, and things got crazy when the bullpen couldnt throw a strike Same World Series game where the only reason it went to extras was Ozzie decided to use a rusty Dustin Hermanson?
  8. It was poor managing in the 8th and 9th, but this team still had plenty of chances to win the game if the offense didn't fall asleep outside of Dunn, Alexei and Flowers. I just wish he'd settle with Lindstrom in the 8th and Webb being the closer.
  9. Strange move, as Veal actually got a few guys out the last couple of games.
  10. Abreu should get a day off in Texas, and that way PK should get 4 games in a row.
  11. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 05:17 PM) ...and the opportunity to tack on a run or two in spots...so many reasons, but it still comes down to BB's. But I have to say, I love this team's fight. f***ing Flowers, that was clutch!! Agreed, I really enjoy the fight this team has. Jordan Danks has had two fantastic at bats in the last 3 games, and followed them up with a steal.
  12. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 05:09 PM) Don't you then question why a guy who walked 53 guys in 53.1 innings at Memphis just last year is being tried out for closer at the major league level? The guy who had the second-worst walks per 9 innings in the entire minor leagues? And the guy who really hadn't started well for us, if you looked at anything but ERA? Not sure what's going on with the bullpen, but nearly everyone out there can't throw a strike with a breaking ball. You then compare that to the Red Sox bullpen, who made the Sox hitters look silly. I don't think the Sox bullpen got more than 2 or 3 swings and misses over the last 6 innings.
  13. One thing that killed the Sox last night was the inability to turn double plays in the 8th and 11th. Gillaspie lobbing the ball to Semien instead of leading him prevented the Sox from keeping a 3-1 lead in the 8th, and then not being able to turn the DP on Ortiz in the 11th seemed strange.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 03:10 PM) The guys there aren't really prospects. They are filler until the real prospects make it. Surkamp and Rienzo are closer to prospects, IMO, than just organization filler.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 04:05 PM) Surkamp can't get guys out in AAA. I don't know why he should be in Chicago. Yeah, the pitching prospects in AAA have been mediocre.
  16. The zone last night was consistent until Leury came in, and then it seemed to completely shrink.
  17. The White Sox took so many first pitch strikes right down the plate last night. Thing is, I'm not sure I've ever seen them take more strikes in a game, only to swing at pitches out of the zone. It's a good thing Alexei and Dunn are great right now, as the rest of the offense seems to be slumping.
  18. I can't believe there were only 13k last night for a game against the Red Sox with the weather not being horrible.
  19. Back just in time for the Leury Loss. It's probably good for this board it was down in the 8th and 9th after that ridiculously dumb managing by Ventura.
  20. 2-3 with a walk for both Hawkins and Anderson today (Hawkins had a double). Even better, neither struck out.
  21. Anyone else think Semien went on the 2-2?
  22. Wow, thank you!
  23. Here comes the 3-2 change
  24. Time for a Semien shank to right to score Alexei
