  1. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 12:58 AM) I really cant take much more of Beckham and Morel It's amazing that this is the third straight year where everyone's clamored for Beckham to get sent down.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 09:07 PM) I was having the discussion with someone at work today, that the team already seemed smarter. I haven't seen any of the baseball IQ blunders that plagued this team in the last few years. Guys aren't throwing to wrong bases, missing cutoff men, running into outs, or screwing up rundowns this year. I know it is early, and this is small sample size, but is anyone else seeing it? Absolutely, two big things I've loved so far by Ventura are giving the hitters a 3-0 green light and utilizing a pitch out in an obvious running situation. Also, he's done a great job of pulling starting pitchers before they get into a lot of trouble.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 07:24 PM) I just want to know why the hell he comes out so timid at the beginning of the season...when he just says the hell with it, and is aggressive instead of using his "if I just try to hit everything to the opposite field they won't send me down" approach, he seems to hit quite well... Yep, every swing seems to be an 0-2 prevent swing
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 05:46 PM) You sir, have not been watching the same Brent Morel that I have. As bad as Beckham has looked, Morel takes the cake in offensive inefficiency. He has 11 strikeouts in 30 at bats. That makes Adam Dunn look like Albert Pujols. Brent Morel has achieved a rocking .115 batting average with 1 extra base hit to the tune of a .332 OPS. Nothing about his decent finish to 2011 against AAA pitching can convince me that this guy will be a quality major league player. Believe it or not, those numbers are worse than Beckham's disgusting start. Most disappointing thing so far this season is that Morel didn't carry over any of the momentum he had at the end of last year into this year. He looks the same right now as he did for most of last year, where he was one of the least productive corner infielders over the last decade. A great end to his season might have made a lot of us way too optimistic about him. As someone said in a different thread, he is striking out way too much for someone with below average power.
  5. Make Lillibridge the everyday starter at 2b then if you're going to give up on Beckham.
  6. 2 of 3 is nice! Let's go win 3 of 4 vs Baltimore
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 09:16 PM) Pitchtrax had that first strike in the same spot the ump wouldn't call for Sale. Terrible, especially considering angle it was coming from when Sale was pitching vs Valverde
  8. That first pitch to Viciedo wasn't a strike for Sale
  9. This umpire continues to screw Sox hitters in big spots.
  10. I didn't mind him pulling Stewart, but putting Ohman in and not pulling him after getting the lefty out was just bad managing.
  11. Matt Kemp, your MVP trophy awaits you
  12. I think Ramirez should bat 2nd, as I think he won't let batting 2nd impact his approach. I thought from day one Morel batting 2nd was just a recipe for disaster.
  13. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) Viciedo should be behind Konerko tomorrow. I'm a big fan of Viciedo, but does he have any hits against fastballs this year? Just wondering if anyone has that stat.
  14. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) Absolutely HATE. HATE. HATE. winning the first two games and losing the last. Even if it's a series win, somehow doesnt feel like it. They need to rock Baltimore tomorrow, get the bad taste out of their mouths... I'll take 2 of 3 every series
  15. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 09:00 PM) Not feeling Ventura's pitching changes today. 1. Let Sale start the 6th. He already had thrown 100 pitches. If Jones starts that inning, then probably Tiggs don't score a run that inning 2. 8th inning. I feel that Stewart should have stayed in there. He did get Tiggs out 1-2-3 in the 8th. But if you want to bring in Ohman, then it has to be for one batter (lefty)..LOOGY..lol...and then bring in Reed. That is my opinion. Could have probably kept this game 2-1! Yep, pretty terrible decision making by Ventura today with the pitchers. Of course, he did have a good lineup set today and the offense failed to show up. This game is one of those games you just lose in every aspect.
  16. So I thought Reed threw harder than he's shown this year. Anyone know his average fastball velocity?
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 09:48 PM) Bat Lillibridge in #2 rotate him between 3rd and 2nd. Beckham/Morel can bat 9th. I think we might see Rios bat 2nd
  18. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 09:45 PM) Memo to Mr. Ventura: Ohman is a LOOGY. Thank you. Sincerely, Concerned White Sox Fan Two biggest areas of criticism so far of Ventura are his handling of Ohman and Morel in the 2nd spot. Besides that, he's done a fantastic job.
  19. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 09:40 PM) Why Ohman? Cause he's just so awesome against righties.
  20. BTW, awful job by the WGN of showing that terrible view behind the batter.
  21. Nothing more needs to be said about him. Do what's right Robin and get him the hell out of the 2nd spot.
