  1. BTW...real quick note. Escobar would have the best ERA of our starters if he was on the Sox.
  2. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 11:50 PM) The offense looks stellar so far. I wonder how many more RBIs Thome, PK, and Dye could have if our 1-2 hitters were more consistent. Aren't the Angels the best team in baseball over the last month and a half?
  3. It seems like 50 pct of Pods ABs now end in either a called 3rd strike or grounder to first base.
  4. Is Uribe hurt, or is he in the doghouse? I hope it's not the doghouse, as we're a better team with him on the field.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:58 PM) Ok, I should have added that he'd hit run into a few more. He'd hit for a worse average though, that's what I was trying to say. Here's some role reversal. I'm being optimistic about a player, and you're being pessimistic.
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) He'd be worse, there's really no doubt in my mind. I think Fields could put up better than 4 extra base hits in 62 ABs and have an OPS higher than .550. I really admire the way Anderson is hitting now, because he looked like a little leaguer the first two months of this season. Fields will K a lot, but he does have some pop in his bat.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) Do you really think Fields could come up right now and produce? I really don't believe he could, think Brian Anderson in April, but worse at the plate and without the fantastic d. There's not a chance in hell that Fields would be as bad as (April) Anderson was at the plate. If he is, then we really screwed up by not trading him when his value was sky high. His defense isn't good, but neither is Mackowiak or Ozuna at 3B. It's one of the main reasons why Crede is one of our 2 most irreplaceable guys (AJP the other).
  8. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) Why exactly would people object to Mack being given playing time at 3rd? Fields is supposedly no gold glove winner there, even though he's played that base more lately, and this was I thought one of the big reasons why getting Mack was so important in the offseason. Oh, and if we're talking about winning...let's also note that it would keep Rob Mackowiak out of CF for 15 days, and I can think of few things that would help us more defensively. I'd actually rather see Cintron get more playing time at 3rd base. The more I think about it, the more likely it is we call up another reliever. We play almost a month straight worth of games, and we'll need an extra pitcher. It's too bad we can't work the waiver wire and get someone better than what we have in the minors right now.
  9. This would be the worst possible timing for Crede to go to the DL. I would have to think that Fields might get the call. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:33 PM) Better now than later I guess. That's a blow, however. In my opinion, later is now! If we tank in the next two weeks, our season is likely over.
  10. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) Disagreed. Mackowiak may be better in every facet of the game. Here's the thing with Mackowiak. He's extremely, extremely streaky. He's been on a tear for a few months now, but you never know when he's going to bat .100 for an entire month. Just like Ozuna, we can't count on him to keep up his tremendous OBP.
  11. This thread has been as tempting to me as a Snickers is to a fat kid. This is all I'll say about Pods in this thread: he needs to pick his game up, and play better and smarter.
  12. Norton keep us in the WC lead for another day!
  13. Unless a team makes a come back today, it's been a terrible day in the standings for the Sox.
  14. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) Ive seen enough of Pablo for a while He was an intergral part of this team prior to his injury. Since the injury, he's absolutely useless. It's too bad we have to wait another month for September call-ups.
  15. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:43 PM) And? we need them to perform... why even have them on the team then.. he's our last guy in our pen, i dont think Kenny had the same thought process when he made the move. Is this serious?
  16. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:39 PM) Phew, atleast we don't have to face Ryan now. We can get some on, get one in, and THEN face Ryan to kill our momentum. He'll still start the 9th, guaranteed.
  17. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:39 PM) the know it alls are wrong once again... what a great pen. Yep, since there's no difference in going to the pen in a 4-3 game or a 6-3 game. Seriously, if you think our bullpen is so bad, then why should we even watch Sox games?
  18. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:37 PM) Who HASN'T scored runs against Dumpster? The guy is terrible. Just stop....please!
  19. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) Don't get upset when they have a point. Ozzie treats his starting pitchers like five-year-olds. As if them getting the wins makes the team play better than if a reliever gets the win instead. I'm waiting for Ozzie to break out the snacks and juice to make the starters feel better, because it's obviously more important to coddle your starting pitchers instead of using your brain. Maybe we should hope Ozzie starts to acquire some relievers that are his "buddies".
  20. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) Agreed. But before those games, he always said I want my pitcher to get the win. In a recent interview, he talked about taking people out on a high note to give them some confidence, and get the team a win. It's 100% obvious he didn't do that today. I finally thought Ozzie was learning how to manage, and it all relapsed today, apparently. You'll be able to follow baseball a lot better if you don't listen to a word the manager/GM/announcers say about how they're going to play the game.
  21. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:27 PM) This one takes the cake because of what Ozzie recently said about taking pitchers out on a high note, and trying to get the team a win. He CLEARLY reverted back to his old self and left Jose out there. And it backfired, again, like ALWAYS. Again, there are about 20 other games where Ozzie probably should have pulled the pitcher sooner than he did today.
  22. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:26 PM) I said the same thing a few weeks ago. You really almost have to do the old "tip your cap" to the Tigers. It's too bad they're in our division. You really have to admire how they're winning this season. They're playing like the Indians did the last 1/3 of the season last year, but they've kept that up almost all year. You can tell they expect to win games, even if they're down at the end. They wanted to upgrade in LF, but Craig Monroe has been great for them now.
  23. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) This game has pissed me off more than any all year. Wow...I can name 20 other games off the top of my head which were more disturbing.
  24. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) Just today? At least he makes me look optimistic.
  25. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:23 PM) I highly doubt that. The bullpen is not good, I dont see how half of you can manage to perform a miracle here. The bullpen isn't good? Well, since our starting pitching isn't very good, I don't know why they should even play then.
