  1. This team is nowhere near as bad as the Royals. Their pitching staff is brutal. However, it's not a stretch to say that the hitting for both teams is comparable, with the Sox hitting being maybe one player deeper. However, I would definitely say that the current White Sox team is the 4th best team in the AL central.

  2. As mentioned earlier, the Mets were interested in Loaiza. They ended up giving up Kazmir to get V. Zambrano. If the Mets offered this same deal for Loaiza, I hope to god that KW didn't turn it down. Loaiza is gone after this year anyways, and he's been a below average starter for a majority of this season. Kazmir would easily be our best prospect. KW, there's still one more day to realize this team lacks "it" this season.

  3. I'll go as far to say that Willie Harris is the worst regular to play for the White Sox in the last 10 years. He has an astonishing 3 extra base hits in his last 160 at bats. He's not a good baserunner, and his defense is nothing special. At least Royce played terrific defense and was capable of getting a big hit once in a while.

  4. If this trade were to go down, then just think of the prospects that we gave up this year to have a team that is currently 4 games down:

    -Olivo

    -Reed

    -Sweeney

    -Rauch

    -Morse

For those guys, you would have thought we could have gotten a little better value than what we did. I also might be the only one who isnt thrilled that we have Everett coming back next year for like 4 million. He's not an outfielder cause of his defense, and you would have to think that Frank is coming back.

  5. He is a 4th outfielder and nothing more. He has trouble with right handers, the predominant type of pitchers in baseball.

Careful, that 4th outfielder has been the brightest spot (along with Shingo) on the Sox all year. We could only wish that the rest of our young guys have improved like Rowand has.

  6. Some quick thoughts:

-Floyd is a terrible defensive outfielder. He cant play RF, which could likely lead to him DH, and carl in RF. Equally as bad in the OF.

-No way is Maggs coming back. Before the injury, there was no chance in hell. Now, I find it very unlikely the average payroll Sox would pay over 10 million a year to a health risk. Not a smart investment.

-Does adding Cliff Floyd make the Sox 5 games better than the Twins? We still have holes at catcher, reliever, starting pitcher, and 2b.

-Why couldnt Sweeney be groomed as the Sox 1b of the future?

  7. The reason I like Cliff for Sweeny is because Sweeny is being used as a piece to block the Twins from getting Benson.

Why is everyone so worried about Benson going to the Twins? He's not that good, and should have troubles in the AL compared to the NL. Also, the Twins would be giving up some of their future for a rental. Also, the Sox are not in a position where they can worry about something like this. They need to improve their team a lot more than the Twins do.

  8. If KW deals Ryan, he is an incompentent moron who should be fired when this team fails to win the division for the fourth straight year.

Amen, KW has taken a 2000 AL central team with a great future and good farm system and the team has not won s*** since he took over. Now, he looks to be depleting our farm system while overpaying in nearly every trade he makes.

  9. I was talking to this one Pirates fan, and from what he's heard,  we're most likely getting nothing in this deal.  Also, the prospect has to be pretty good to be the difference maker.  Why the f*** are we doing this?

If this is true, then KW needs to stop drinking the White Sox koolaid and realize that the team needs to add its own players if they want to compete with the Twins, and not worry if they trade some of their top young players to get an average pitcher.

  10. Why does everyone think Kendall could be in this trade? Don't you think Gammons would have mentioned it? I don't think it would be legal to get nothing in return, so maybe we'll get a minor leaguer also. Maybe J.R. House, a former catching stud prospect who I believe is out of options.

  11. He gives the White Sox a legitimate outfielder instead of Borchard, Perez and Gload.

He's hurt and just got arrested for a DUI. Might as well try to sign Ricky Williams then, he played in the minors.

  12. Shane Spencer was recently arrested for a DUI, and the Mets stated that he'd never play for them again. Too bad he isn't in the NBA, Portland would trade for him in a second. Actually, I've always liked Shane Spencer though.. He's a tough out.

  13. Well, if this is true, the Sox better get someone out of the deal or the prospect bettter not be too good. They're not in a position like the Yankees have been in the past where they could do moves like this to prevent their competition from acquiring someone. Maybe the Sox could get Mackowiak out of this.

  14. Possibly being the key word.  As of right now, the Yankees rotation is bush league...Mussina and Brown are hurt/injury prone, so they're going with Contreras-Vazquez-El Duque-Sturtze-who gives a s***.  The Twins rotation has Radke-Santana-Silva/Benson/Lohse, which is very beatable.  Red sox has Schilling-Pedro-Wakefield/Lowe/Arroyo...a little better then most, but it too lacks a great 1-2-3.

Only the A's have a real solid 1-2-3 of Mulder, Hudson, and Zito, and Zito is a very hittable pitcher nowadays too, and Mulder and Hudson are far from unbeatable.

Garcia-Buehrle-Loaiza may(or may not) be solid in the playoffs.

Which costs us maybe a bag of balls.

    Not another bag of balls!

You can't tell me that you think Oakland's catching crew is solid...or, as of right now, Minnesota's.  Both are s***.  You do not need a stud catcher to win ballgames...just one that hits decently, calls a good game, and has a strong arm.

Getting Bautista from Arizona would not cost us a whole hell of a lot...why not grab him?

Really it doesn't, considering there is essentially another entire month to make deals yet.  The other players just have to pass through waivers.

It's called taking risks, and not just sitting on your ass twiddling your thumbs.  Many in baseball thought we had the best team in the league last year, and we could have won it all.  We were just unfortunate enough to have been outplayed by Minnesota in the last 2 series of the year, and that essentially ended our season.

He may.  Doesn't matter...he wouldn't be in the majors with us yet.

He's already given up an arm and a leg for Freddy and Carl, why not go for it all?  You can't just sit on your ass and say "Oh, what could have been"...you f***ing go out and do something to help your cause.

If this were a game of poker, we are committed to the pot with a pair of Kings with an ace on the board...you have to f***ing call, just to see what happens.  We may win, but we may not.

Very good post, but I disagree with you about the catching position. D. Miller and Melhuse are a very solid catching core for the A's, and are significantly better than the Sox. And when the Twins gt Mauer back this wknd, their catching position will go from below average to above average very quickly.

  15. Why? Our chances of winning this year and right between slim and none right now whereas we have some very good prospects down there. With Maggs and Thomas, yes we could go for it more. But we arent gonna be replacing those bats and our team is so horrible right now that IMO i dont think it's worth it

Finally, someone else that said what everyone is thinking, but doesn't want to sound like a bandwagon jumper: this current Sox team is HORIBBLE. How many times do people have to see this team make the same mistakes or continue to be easy outs until some realize that this talent level isn't what it used to be. Just compare our team last year at the end to this team right now. It's not even close.

  16. We need a f***ing bat.  Fast.

Get Delgado if we need to, get Kendall, get someone who plays with some heart and gives a s***.

Losing to the Tigers 3-2 is bulls***.

Why is losing 3-2 to the Tgiers bulls***. Look realistically at the lineups and starting pitcher tonight. I would say the Sox are only better at 1b and LF. Their starting pitcher is way better than ours, and their catcher, SS, and DH our better than the Sox. The rest of the positions are relatively close.

  17. Those are my feelings exactly.

The thing that bothers me is that this team has no heart and no balls.  It seems like since the word came out about Maggs, they just gave up.

What makes you think that the Sox even have enough players in their farm system to fill all the holes that this team has right now? Basically, to be a playoff team that could even compete with the Yanks, Twins, Red Sox, etc., the Sox would need possibly another starter, another reliever or 2, a catcher, and a RF. That seems like a difficult task to accomplish. Also, look at last year of an example of what happens when you acquire players with prospects, yet you don't make the playoffs. Frank Francisco would sure look good in our bullpen right now. Rather have a 98 mph than Jackson's 84 mph. All I'm asking is that KW doesn't overreact to this team slumping and think that he can fix them up with trades when there might be too many problems for this team to compete.

  18. That was not a good move by Ozzie to put the hit and run on for a 2nd time. The first time was good cause it might have caught the Tigers by surprise. However, the Tigers were ready for it, which easily could have led to the pitcher throwing that ball outside, basically acting like a pitch out.

  19. I agree.

Believe me when I say that I hate those north side assholes more than anyone. I was just responding to someone's comment that people were sounding like Cubs fans when they complained about the Sox chances. It doesn't take a genius to realize that the Cubs have got their injured guys back, and we lost our two best players.
