PK has become just a terrible overall hitter. All you have to do is get 2 strikes on him, and he'll chase the offspeed pitch.

STOP IT OZZIE!!! We have got to stop making so many outs on the bases. This isn't Closser or Greene catching. This guy can actually throw.

QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 12:35 AM) I'm looking forward to seeing Ozuna play at Coors. Yeah, with the high altitude, he might be able to get the ball out of the grass part of the infield on a fly. I'm ok with the fact Ozuna is playing tonight, but I hate that he's leading off with the pitcher in the 9 hole. Ozuna would be better served in a position where he could bunt a guy over or do a hit-and-run.

Why can't Ozzie just keep the same starting lineup just once when going for the 3 game sweep (changing catchers is ok). I really wonder if it's becoming a mental thing also with this team, where they dont get up as much for the final game of the series. Anytime you bench 3 starters for a game, there's going to be some type of letdown.

One thing I'd be willing to bet on: We won't hold the Rockies to scoring in only one inning tonight like they have in each of the games so far. We're going to need at least 5 to win this, guaranteed.

Everett playing in that spacious outfield scares the crap out of me. Why does it seem like Ozzie is making Pods into a platoon player? We didn't trade a marquee power hitter to get a player who only starts against righties.

MLB has it in for Sox
Everett sounds like he's trying out to become a member of the Cubs. His theories seem like they fit perfectly with Dusty's style.

Here's my lineup prediction: - Ozuna, LF - Iguchi - Rowand - Konerko - Dye - Crede - Widger - Uribe - Hernandez

why y'all so down on timo
If you're going to give credit to Timo for winning 2 games, then he deserves credit for losing the first base debacle, as well as the Tigers game where he was brought in to hit in the 9th, only to K with the winning run on 3rd, and one out.

QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 05:10 AM) With Gload getting hurt again is their anyone out there that KW can get to backup Konerko that is our huge weakness... I'm 100 pct serious, as sad as it is, that Ozzie probably views Timo as a possible replacement at 1b.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 05:09 AM) Any problems with how Ozzie handled the bullpen today? The bullpen was handled properly. If Cotts has control, he's probably more effective than any of our other relievers. I am getting sick of our awful base running/bunting. When's Ozzie going to learn that Crede can't bunt, and Uribe can't run the bases?

QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 04:57 AM) Not aganist a good right handed starter you want another LH in the starting lineup. Ozuna had made a few mistakes at 1B in the beginning of the year If my memory is correct, Ozuna has played first base for two innings in his career. They were in KC on a Sunday game, and Ozuna made a great play in the 9th to help preserve a one run win. I can't believe how many people defend Ozzie for the way he uses Timo.

Great job by our pitchers tonight! Now, I guess we'll see Timo in the lineup!!!

Sox @ Rockies Game Thread (6-7-05)
If Ozzie was smart, he'd send Cotts to the mound to start the 9th. Hopefully, the Rockies would send up a batter for Hawpe, who hits a whole lot better against righties than lefties. Hawpe against Hermanson scares me.

We have got to be the worst base running team in baseball. We keep running ourselves out of innings, which is stupid at any field, but especially at Coors.

Sox @ Rockies Game Thread (6-7-05)
Ozzie with just some awful managing this inning. Uribe's a god awful base runner. Crede's a god awful bunter. Yet, we make 2 outs in the inning trying to play "smallball"?
-
Sox @ Rockies Game Thread (6-7-05)
A wild pitcher just walks the leadoff hitter, and Ozzie has a terrible bunter try to bunt on the first pitch? That's just idiotic managing. Crede can't bunt....stop giving up outs!

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) I know they both suck right now but Uribe is still miles ahead of Crede. Crede's OPS is .689....Uribe's OPS is .652.
-
Sox @ Rockies Game Thread (6-7-05)
That was just a terrible inning by our 6-7-8 hitters there. Uribe is close to becoming the liability at the plate that many people believe that Crede is.

Wow, Clayton Richard was the back-up QB at Michigan I know. I'm pretty sure he throws hard.

QUOTE(gettysburg32 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) Yeah, I wasn't meaning to say Venable had a chance in the NBA, not many 6'2" shooting guards from Princeton do, but I was saying the few times I'd watched him on TV he was a pretty good ball player. No, I know what you mean. Just pointing out the similarity. It's not often you see a guy play in college basketball, and then get drafted in baseball.

QUOTE(gettysburg32 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) Yea, that's him, he was a damn good basketball player too. Well, it's worked out pretty well for Chris Young of the Rangers, even though Young was a much bigger prospect.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:03 PM) Yep. I'm somewhat surprised. Kid could have been a first rounder, but for some reason wants to be a PG. There are 12-15 roster spots per NBA team. A first rounder has 4-5 years to make it in baseball plus the million in signing bonuses and college tuition paid in the future... One thing I know about baseball: If you heart and mind aren't 100% into it, your physical tools mean nothing. Funny thing is that his basketball ranking dropped a lot as well. He went from being a fringe top 50 player to being ranked in the bottom part of the top 100. Hewitt has said he's the fastest player he's ever recruited though. He'll have a ton of playing time at pg next year at GT if he actually goes to college.
