I'm not sure why it matters and how it pertains to Vaughn but this is what I know: Andrew Dalquist doesn't graduate high school until next week and can't sign until then. He's significantly overslot. 22nd rounder Logan Glass is waiting to sign but he's signing. They can't do it until the top 3 are officially signed. I've heard they have agreements with all 4 though. Not sure what the holdup is

Thanks for the info!  Crazy that his high school isn't over.  Ours has been out nearly a month.  More importantly 4 in the fold(I hope, until ink dried .......).  Wish Vaughn and Thompson would sign.

Where is Vaughn if a kid like this is already pitching?

I thought in the past it was because we had some college world series guys but not so much this year.  Wish 1-3 were in the fold and playing.  Maybe some working around the slot numbers or trying to get one more later high school prospect?  But 1-3 could get valuable experience instead, we will probably get "oh they had a long layoff so we don't want to push them".

  3. Post playing days, I wonder if Jose would have interest in any kind of organizational position post baseball.  An aide to the guys who come from Latin America/Carribean?  Some what continuing in a mentorship role.  Maybe around the big club when they are at home and minors when they are on the road.  If he doesn't want that time commitment,  he could still be an ambassador and do the spring training visit and a few during the season etc.

AA, A+ and A are all tomorrow. HR derbys tonight. Nothing as far as Sox prospects. Only the Southern League has a HR derby and none of the White Sox guys are in it. Would have been cool to see what Robert could do.

Don't like a guy screwing up his swing for that though.

Now with Collins and probably Jay not too far behind, I'd say:

    vs. RHP:

Leury CF, Moncada 3B, Abreu 1B, McCann C/DH, Eloy LF, Collins DH/C, Anderson SS, Jay RF, Yolmer 2B

    vs. LHP:

Leury CF, Anderson SS, Abreu 1B, Eloy LF, McCann C/DH, Anderson SS, Castillo DH/C, Yolmer 2B, Cordell RF

I could also see Jay and Leury flipped against RHP.

vs lefties you have Anderson twice.  Do you want Moncada in there somewhere?  Not trying to be a dick, just wondering re: your lineup

  6. Jose has earned the right of a sit down with GM and Jose's agent now not after the season.  It needs to be explained that it is likely more and more dhing is in the plan.  If he does not agree/understand this then you move him.  If he is agreeable and you can get decent prospects, cough cough Astros, you trade him with a gentleman's agreement of an off season resigning.  Yes there is a risk of him not coming back but his actual production can probably be replaced cheaper.  If he is adamantly against a trade then you get a fair or discounted resign which if you can't reach an agreement upon, you trade him.

Avi has one of the higher ceilings of players currently on the roster.  That potential is why we have all been frustrated by his performance.  He has actually performed at the MLB level though not as often as we would like.  2017 did happen.  There was improved power last year.  We all witnessed the turnaround in Basabe's performance when he played on a healthy knee and returned to prospect status.  Could Avi rebound.......sure, likely maybe not.  Could we sign Harper....sure, likely maybe not.  If a healthy Avi shows up, he will certainly be motivated and aside from a couple times on a bad leg, he does hustle.  You would have a bat to flip at the deadline or keep and attach a qualifying offer and get a draft pick.  If you sign someone or he looks bad in spring training, you cut him at a cost of around 2 million.  Heck if you sign someone and he looks good, he could play till Eloy comes up and then be a DH.  Probably a better DH in a platoon than Davidson.  If there is a definite improvement arranged I understand allocating the dollars to the improvement but I don't see it happening by the tender deadline.  I still like the idea of the threat of release leading to a 5 million deal with 3-5 in incentives.  If he is great he could make more and if not we save some.  Give him 2.5 at signing so he makes a guaranteed 500k more than if you tender and cut.  Win-win.

Well if we had done what I suggested, he would have gotten about 1.5 more up front and we would have had a relatively competent bat in RF or dhing on occasion.  His performance possibly would be flippable at deadline if he were to heat up a little before the deadline also.
