Besides throwing strikes, one thing I key on with Seranthony is whether he gets whiffs on the sweeper. That pitch has always had a very high whiff rate and this year's version appears to be about the same in terms of movement and all that, but was getting merely okay swing and miss. So I expect the good version of him to be seeing guys whiffing on it when he throws it roughly where he wants it.

Rasmussen had a great outing and got a little lucky. Oh well, keep on grinding.

Kelly has basically the second most unusual release in MLB after Tyler Rogers. Very tough on right-handed hitters.

Everson has pretty much stunk since his return, but TBH that wasn't a very bad at bat. He got beat by good pitching.

Fascinating how on the Sox, Booser's cutter was getting bombed and it felt like part of the solution for him would involve just canning that pitch. I look at his excellent 2026 and...the cutter is getting bombed and he's throwing it even more. Must be the pitch he feels most comfortable getting strikes with.

If you wonder why a guy might take that pitch, it's because Rasmussen's sinker moves more than a foot towards the arm side than his 4-seam. If you think you're getting a 4-seamer, the 4-seamer coming out of that tunnel is a ball. Sinker is center cut. Rasmussen set that up real well by only throwing him 4-seam and cutter before that.

Hope they don't send Rasmussen out for the 7th.

Noah still needs to figure out how to generate more swing and miss but it's easier to watch him work through it when he's not issuing free passes.

Noah has allowed a few firmly hit grounders, one of those was bound to get through eventually.

Only the 13th time this season that a Sox catcher has had 2 hits in a game. 8th time for Quero. Romo has done it twice (last time: May 15th), Teel did it twice, McGuire once.

The ump stinks, it's going to be hard to hold onto the challenges when you know anything that feels wrong might really be worth a challenge.

Last start, everybody looked borderline shell-shocked seeing Noah's sinker at first. Then second time through the order they started putting good swings on it. I'd like to see whether that repeats today or if he can keep hitters off balance.
