  1. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) Stupid ass Bill Plaschke said we should trade for Maddux (Mariotti called him an idiot). God I hate that guy. I saw that as well. Just asinine.
  2. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:30 PM) I'm Sorry, Don Cooper is away from his desk and at Old Country Buffet. Please leave a message after the tone ... Gotta feed the beast!
  3. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:28 PM) Jesus might not be able to fix this mess. coop >>> jesus
  4. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) We could keep talking about breaks, or our pitchers could stop throwing very very crushable 0-2 pitches. I think it our pitchers start to think a bit more, and execute on 0-2 instead of giving up dongs, the game might have a different spin. But they were sure lucky to get an 0-2 hanging forkball gift. screw that. coop will fix it.
  5. Corpseball is for fudgepackers.
  6. This corpseball spiff is gay.
  7. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) Doesn't drop the gloves mean they are going to fight in hockey. Are you guys gonna webcast that? What are the odds on the fight? With all the posters he's threatened it should be a nice handicap match!
  8. I hate how we condone people harassing others here. You know what WSI does to trolls.
  9. This team plays like Clay Aiken - no balls.
  10. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 04:06 PM) Exactly. Either Freddy or Vazquez will be gone after this season. Vazquez's 12 million dollar contract makes me want to vomit. As far as I know, we aren't paying all 12 of that though.
  11. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) Re-signing Soriano would have nothing to do with Joe. Well, the salaries REALLY start adding up when you have Soriano's $13+ million contract and Crede's likely $8+.
  12. QUOTE(bmags @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) if we resign Soriano, does that mean crede gone. Possibly, I doubt it. But now that I think of it, if Fields isn't moved in the deal, we may just let Crede walk eventually. Or imagine the value we could get if we traded Crede in the offseason. Probably the wrong thread to speculate about that in though.
  13. Unless those are good spects, I wouldn't like this deal too much if I were a Royals fan. That's a big contract to play games with when you have salary constraints like theirs.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) Well Pods wife is hot. There is a remote possibility that you may see her at the park. But then again I can google her images on the internet, and then watch Soriano make Pods just a remote memory of 2005.
  15. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) i wouldnt. can you really name something that pods does that contributes to this teams success? Exactly. At best, Podsednik is an average player (with average talent). On this team, he just shapes up to be a non contributor.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 12:21 PM) Btw, how in hell can Vida Guerra's cell phone pix get on the net, while Zoo Magazine's pix are nowhere to be found? A sad commentary on...my life...but also on... This is quite disappointing.
  17. Yeah, although the owners weren't the most gracious, the man really comes out great in this deal.
  18. QUOTE(bighurt574 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) If we can get Soriano without giving up BMac I like our chances of resigning Soriano. That lets us stick with the plan of moving BMac into the rotation and shipping out a Garcia or Vazquez. Take the salary we hopefully save from moving Garcia/Vazquez and Pods (assuming he is either part of the Soriano deal or would be dealt seperately if Soriano signs an extension), that already goes a long way towards paying Soriano. Yes, this is all starting to take shape in my mind the way I imagine it might be in Kenny's. (How dare I try to assume I know what Kenny is thinking!)
  19. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 05:30 AM) Texas have 4 good SP prospects in Danks, Diamond, Volquez and Hurley that we would probably be interested in. They're a good fit in terms of what we're trying to get for a SP. Although he isn't having a great year, would the Sox pursue Haigwood again if they were dealing with Texas?
  20. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) Oh... No, I cannot imagine any scenario in which the Nats give us cash... Yeah, more wishful thinking than anything else. I really don't think KW would rent him tho. We will either deal him again (which I doubt) or Kenny has the free money to extend him.
  21. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 02:02 PM) One Championship is NEVER enough. It just makes you hungry for MORE. (Were you done after the Bulls threepeat? Wasn't the second threepeat just as grand?) That said, if we don't win again this year, I am so glad that the Sox finally won one in my lifetime. By happenstance, I was 2 years old the last time the Sox won the pennant, in 1959. Last fall, my son was 2, and the Sox not only won the pennant, but the World Series. So he knows what team to root for, even if he doesn't really understand all the nuances of baseball. And the other day, when I asked him what he wanted to be, he said: "baseball player." We're never going to lose memories like this of the 2005 World Series Champion Chicago White Sox. (After the season, I wrote a 17-page ode to the season just so I would never forget.) I also agree that it is helpful to take a break, and by all means SPEND TIME WITH YOUR KIDS! I'm off to Vermont in a couple of days to camp with my kids, and I'm not going to be anywhere near a newspaper. If I call my wife by cell-phone, I don't want to know anything that's happening with baseball. Given our 3-10 slide against our AL competitors, it is very good timing for a break. And maybe, just maybe, when I get back, not only will I be rejuvenated, but so will the SOX. GO WHITE SOX!!! BACK-TO-BACK WS TITLES!!!!! If we win while you're gone, we don't want you back.
  22. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) Yeah just like Fransico Lriano and Justin Verlander are dime a dozen. I mean the Sox probably got 10 of those type prospects. There are MANY more highly touted prospects that turn into Kip Wells than ones that turn into Fransisco Liriano.
  23. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 03:29 PM) That is one year. His career OBP is only .346. Who cares about his rookie year. So, it is ENTIRELY true. I agree he did a good job at seeing more pitches last year, but this year? NO! Last year he did a great job at seeing more pitches and being a leadoff hitter. I don't see him doing that this year. You are getting a better average, about the same OBP, and only 4 less stolen bases. How does Podsednik possibly become the better leadoff hitter? The only categories that Pods ihas a higher number than Soriano in is triples and caught steals. That is it. There is no way that Pods has better numbers that Soriano that make him more suitable to leadoff. Your only argument is that Soriano is a great power hitter so we have to take advantage of that, however that does not make him any less suitable to hit leadoff than Pods. That is just ridiculous. Exactly what I've been trying to tell everyone.
  24. QUOTE(S720 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 03:15 PM) Nah, I see us ranked 5th behind the Tigers, Yankees, Red Sox, and the Mets as of now. I believe if the playoff starts today, our White Sox team will be a whole lot different and better team! If that's true, it's not a good thing. If the Sox don't realize that almost every game has a huge impact by now they don't deserve to go to the playoffs.
