  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 11:30 AM) I can tell you all one thing, I'm sure not gaining any fans in this thread. I'll drop it. Although Sonic, I think you can find better words than "retarded" to use on the message boards. What is this, 2nd grade recess? Yep, I just took you off my top posters list.
  2. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 11:24 AM) I think it is more ridiculous to see someone with less than a full season on the list. But to each his own. I imagine there may be someone coming up on the list because of his sex appeal. That may be a good reason for some of our members, not so for others. If sex appeal was the major factor, BA would be #1 all time!
  3. An excellent stage to show the national audience that we are for real.
  4. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 09:31 AM) That was so insanely dumb, and I am pretty sure Cox knew it as soon as Thome turned the corner. You could see him saying "stupid, stupid" to himself after the play. I dont knwo what the heck he was thinking. Cox waved his arm as Raburn fielded the ball, it wasnt like the ball was still skipping around Even though its still a bad call by Cox because he should have seen it, but didn't it look like Thome was hardly even trying from second to third, it seemed like there wasn't even any intensity.
  5. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 12:40 AM) He was sitting right next to the victim. How many stab wounds do you think he could have gotten in before anyone could have jumped in to help? Enough to kill that kid, that's how many. They did the smart thing, let him finish up that kid, get off the bus and barricade the door. No I'm with you here that the victim couldn't have been saved. However, fear or whatever you would have called I thought would have driven the passengers to get the guy under absolute control because just because he takes out one doesn't mean he's done. I would have hoped a group would have tied him to a seat and perhaps beat the s*** out of him.
  6. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 10:55 PM) Try to save yourself, that's what you would do. He stabbed that kid how many times before he started taking him apart? That kid was done, there weren't gonna be any heroes. I'd be thankful that he decided to spend all of his time on that one kid instead of slashing a few other throats, including possibly mine. Don't they have the same kind of security screening to get on a bus as for a plane?? How the ef did he get a knife on the bus? ......and if he was able to saw through someone's neck bone, it couldn't have been a tiny swiss army knife on a key chain either. Think people will be dozing off on the bus any more? I'll be honest, I'm fairly surprised the guy wasn't apprehended by the passengers. Maybe it's the Canada factor. What was it, 37 passengers? 5 of them against the one man and knife probably would have ended quickly and without additional harm. No way do I let that motherf*** go.
  7. Update: Since Griffey acquisition: PK- .353 .476 OBP Swish- .333 .412 OBP
  8. I'm not sure, this may be better served in the SLaM forum.
  9. I'm absolutely not a Christian and I couldn't give two s***s about if under God is in our Pledge or if there are Ten Commandments someplace. The great men who created this country were Christians, it is part of our heritage as a nation, I don't believe that the Christian faith directly dicates what our government does. I don't know why people can't just ignore it. If you're offended by under God, don't you think our forefathers would be offended by the lack of it?
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 09:44 PM) There was a study done the other day that said the Sox would give up 28 more runs the rest of the way with Griffey Jr. in the outfield than if they had a league average defender. That's pretty much 100% unjustifiable, even if true.

I live in a rural area, but my itrip I believe its called works great. Not as a good as a cd, but acceptable. Sometime there is interference around some stoplights, thats about all I've noticed.
  12. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 10:41 PM) OK http://www.getoutdoors.com/goblog/uploads/amanda_beard.jpg ugh
  13. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 11:59 PM) He had a knife....and he was sawing some guy's head off......and he was eating him. Would you f*** with him? I would walk up behind him and snap his neck like in the movies.
  14. Had I made a list, BA would be in my top 10 and possibly top 5. He seems like a great guy, put in a lot of work to be one of the better defenders I've ever witnessed in CF, and I inexplicably have a crazy desire for him to do well. So shoot me.
  15. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 10:24 PM) Bottom line: Alexei Ramirez REALLY likes to swing the bat. And he is really good at it.
  16. I'm really pretty surprised he made it, but I do like the guy.
  17. She's ugly, I was hoping for some actual nudity though.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 01:54 PM) Logan Yes I thought of him after I made the post, he didn't throw much last night either. Really as much as we say we really need Danksy to go the distance, it won't be disaster if he doesn't. It'll make tomorrow's game more interesting though if he only goes 4 or 5.
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 01:50 PM) It wasnt sarcasm, there is no way Griffey does not start yesterdays game. In terms of marketing presence, Ken Griffey is the biggest name on the South Side in years. He was a legitimate superstar that brings fans to the game. I went to last nights game, I cant even imagine how the 35k+ fans would have reacted to Griffey not playing. The attendance would have went down strangely early in the game. I know that if I paid for the ticket I would have stayed, but would have felt discourage to go again if there was a chance Griff wouldn't play.
  20. I'm thinking Russel, Dotel, and Jenks are available out of the pen tonight.
  21. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 12:59 PM) Last night maybe, but generally speaking Rodney f***ing sucks. Tigers fans hate him almost as much as they hated Grilli. I'd take him, he is filthy.
  22. QUOTE (BearSox @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 01:38 PM) Wow, so you are using 1 player as an example? Now, I never played a 162 game season, but I do know for a fact that it takes a lot out of you and your body takes a beating. I'm not 35 years old, but when I'm out there on those hot days it is very tiring. The next day however, I'm just as fresh as I was the previous morning.
  23. Taking a day off is a nice respite, but I'm not sure if it would even make a discernable change in production. If I had a day off, it'd be nice to stay out of the heat and adrenaline for a few hours, but I don't think I would play better the next day because of it. If they were legitimately worn down then these rests of more than one day could make a real difference, but I doubt they were really physically tired.
  24. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 12:43 PM) He can't hit for average anymore, can't run too hard or he'll injure himself, and he can't defend. He'll give you the occasional homer. In that sense, he's pretty one-dimensional. I guess you can say two-dimensional, as he can still draw a walk. The guy is a shell of his former self. I refuse to overlook his flaws because he used to be great. And again, to Masset. I wasn't necessarily pointing out the loss of Masset, but the fact that we traded from a weakness (which we should have addressed) to add to the team's current strong point. He had a slow start to this season but as of late has indeed hit for average. He batted .277 last year in a full time role, and I don't see how one can use the "well he's older now" to say he can't hit at a clip similar to last year from here on out. His season stats indicate a two-dimensional hitter, his recent splits and career numbers indicate a three-dimensional hitter. I don't know how he hits situationally, I suppose if he does that well you could say there is another potential dimension.
