  1. Why can't anything go our way? The true measure of Robin's managing chops will be how we recover from this game, win or lose. Can't keep playing like this even if our pitching can keep us in this thing.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 04:41 PM) Tore his freaking labrum on the last pitch of his final rehab outing. Worst possible injury for a pitcher these days. It's rare for a pitcher to tear his labrum on a single pitch. With throwers, it's always a wear and tear thing and I guarantee it was torn the whole time. It is difficult to diagnose unless you're looking for it or if it is damaged to the extent of an impact injury. The minute he went out I could have told you what happened, he had all the symptoms.
  3. You guys are nuts about jumping on Ventura so quickly. Let him manage
  4. Sure is difficult to overcome getting f***ed out of an out.
  5. I recall at least twice when Morel's singled on the ground with the infield drawn in. ie, not hit the ball any better than normal with man on third, just happened to have the infield drawn in.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 04:21 PM) I hate the squeeze, way too much of a margin for error. In the 7th inning, if you can't rely on your hitter to make contact, then you should have someone ready to ph for him. With half-ass decent players, the squeeze almost always works.
  7. Suicide squeeze was the perfect call and I, too, would have assumed that a player that has never really been a middle of the order hitter could execute it.
  8. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:37 PM) Another lose to a soft tosser who next game will go 4 innings and give up 5 runs and be knocked out...............very sad! Lefties with good changeups suck to bat against.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:36 PM) Looked like he was expecting an offspeed pitch maybe? It was a good cut, just seemed like a bit too high of a pitch for where his swing plane was. MLB batters miss good pitches all the time
  10. Good AB so far for Dunn.
  11. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:32 PM) No because Dunn will homer here. quoted for potential truth
  12. Woah. I want Dunn to bat here, but I do not support benching Rios for anyone today.
  13. Well, this is the right part of the lineup.
  14. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:28 PM) No reason GB should of hit. There's a reason. Didn't necessarily maximize our chances of winning today, but there was a reason.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:25 PM) Beckham gets to bat Robin seems pretty intent not to bench his regular starters for offense whenever possible.
  16. Meh, Matt just needs to throw something other than the same pitch in the same spot repeatedly. Again, I don't see why there is some illusion that Thornton should only pitch to lefties. I understand he's not a ground ball pitcher, but he is a strikeout pitcher and our shutdown guy late in games. That is absolutely his situation to come in.
  17. Thornton has a pretty good track record against RH batters, I'm not upset about him coming in.
  18. I can think of all the reasons not to pitch him but I just don't mind it for some reason. My gut says it's okay.
  19. I don't mind leaving Gavin out there. I want to see the guy grow some nuts.
  20. Rios, AJ, Paulie will presumably regress a little bit. It's reasonable to believe that Dunn has numbers that will continue on (he's near career averages). De Aza is a bit of a wildcard, not sure what to project from him. Morel, Beckham, Viciedo and/or their replacements will hit better. Peavy and Humber will regress to at least some extent (that's inevitable) and it is likely that Danks and Floyd pitch a bit better. Sale is a wildcard, I imagine he will have several ups and downs. Santiago will probably get better. The rest of the bullpen has done a good job, I don't expect much different. There's some room for things to change and the Sox should still be able to win. OF course, we assume that it won't be like last year where almost noone exceeds expectations or even meets them really.
  21. JFP

There are only a couple things that could make it likely that he'd be back: 1. White Sox make deep playoff run, led by Peavy 2. Peavy wins Cy Young or has similar type of year and White Sox are a contender
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 11:52 PM) This has been a really good road team the past couple of years, so winning streaks on the road against bad teams isn't much of a surprise. It would be nice if they could win a few at home this year. I just like having a pitching staff capable of putting together winning streaks. The pitching staff is constructed so that as long as the offense is hot, we should never lose.
  23. Great to get a win in front of so many fans.
