  1. A series win against the Tigers would really make me optimistic about the season. Let's get it boys!
  2. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 11:52 AM) really? let's look down the line. Cleveland: Masterson, Jimenez, Lowe, Tomlin, Gomez (we're better) Minnesota: Pavano, Liriano, Hendricks, Blackburn, ??? (we're better) Tigers: Verlander, Scherzer, Porcello, Wilk, Fister (injured), Smyly (closest, but honestly after Verlander I like all our pitchers better) Royals: Chen, Hochevar, Sanchez, Mendoza, Duffy (again... I say we're better) can you honestly argue this? we have 2 high-celing, high-floor guys in Danks and Floyd. No matter what, they won't be BAD. Sale has potential to be an ace, Peavy - if he stays healthy - can compete with any pitcher in this division not named Verlander. And Humber - even if he's a mid-4s ERA is still one of, if not the best #5 in the division. I'd call that rock-solid. Me watching those consecutive hits in the first inning? I'd call that rock solid.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 10:44 PM) I do not pretend to be a scout. All I know is the video I saw of Molina showed him as a soft tossing meatball artist. I hope he succeeds but those of you who have seen highlights ... his pitches are slowwwwwww.
  4. Where did Chris Sale come from? Must have been some other system, my bad
  5. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Apr 9, 2012 -> 02:48 PM) This is what the Marlins and their fans wanted, they wanted a yearlong storyline and we got it. It isn't really a problem until it begins to effect the product on the field. Also, I'm taking off my marlins shades when i say this but when i initially read the story i took Ozzie's comments (as boneheaded as they were) as if i were to tell my friends that while i was in Iraq i respected al qaeda because they really took it to us when we were out there. My friends aren't going to bash me and say I'm a muslim extremist. All i was saying is that they are some tough son of a b****es, just like ozzie said he respects fidel because everyone wants him dead and the f***er is still ticking. There's just no safe way to make a statement like that. The idea is that it is in fact gutless to use your power to have others go kill/oppress innocent people. If Fidel Castro went rambo and did all of that with his own bare hands, maybe there'd be a certain semblance of respect there based on the physical feat of it. But even that sounds wrong. There's no way to put it without it sounding like Ozzie believes that Fidel takes off his dictator cap now and then and is actually a cool guy. Maybe if he said he was "in awe" of what had happened that'd be a less divisive way to say what he was possibly trying to say. But he's an idiot, so he didn't say it the right way and he's too arrogant to just get away from the entire statement and must clarify to try and show that he never did say anything wrong in the first place.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2012 -> 03:26 PM) What happened to Hamilton? Didn't see him down the stretch, what did I miss? I assumed that he had reached his minutes limit. It's clear that Derrick had overreached his conditioning as well, he just might still have been better than an aching CJ Watson/healthy JL3
  7. Who would have guessed that Hector Santiago would be our closer? I sure wouldn't have four weeks ago.
  8. Rios for MVP
  9. No runs scored in that inning. Nice. He could basically "match" Danks' start, at this point.
  10. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 7, 2012 -> 08:25 PM) my guess is he's had to tweak his mechanics because of his injury. not that surprising. His arm slot is okay, but he's effectively "staying back," not attacking the plate at all. It's actually looked better to my eye the past couple batters and now his fastball his moving.
  11. I'm friends with a former coach of Peavy's and he's telling me that his mechanics are just not right, right now.
  12. We're not even getting any luck now
  13. The fan. The s*** is getting near it.
  14. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Apr 7, 2012 -> 05:34 PM) Flowers is catching and hitting 7th. Heard this on the radio. AJ will not be happy, but I would like to see us get something out of T-Flow. He has the ceiling of a RH Adam Dunn. If he can drop 30 bombs and keep K's under 200, that'd be nice from an MLB catcher. Lots of if's, but that's why he gets spot starts
  15. Fitting to end to a poorly umpired game.
  16. Ventura seems eager not to overmanage.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 03:08 PM) It seemed pretty obvious it was going to be Santiago as the closer Crazy. Wouldn't have guessed that a month ago. Are we possibly trying to create a trading chip with the rookie closer?
  18. We've had our share of bad ABs, but Lewis pitches smart, rarely misses his spots, and even more rarely misses the wrong direction.
  19. I liked it better when B-Mo would take half hearted swings to hit it softly to the opposite field.
  20. Can't see the ball when we're in multi-view mode
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) The most popular guy is the .338 career April hitter useless splits are useless
  22. I'm all for solving the Rios problem, but let's not freak out over everything that goes wrong in the first game as if that's a valid sample size
