  1. A lie detector test can literally be tampered by use of your sphincter
  2. AFAIK, if you're a distance runner it is worth investing into some good clothing. I'm not a runner though, so I don't know which are good and which are just hyped.
  3. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 21, 2012 -> 01:55 PM) He's going by Joe for a while to see if it helps get some wins. So far, so good. Matt Thornton is the clean shaven, well-kept, slimmer guy that used to pitch for us. Joe Thorton is this scruffy, long haired, beer gut dude that's been tossing for the pale hose.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 18, 2012 -> 10:33 PM) Actually, I checked the box score, it wasn't the next time Heyward came up. He hit a homer in the 2nd, grounded out on 4 pitches in the 4th, then got hit with the first pitch in the 7th. No idea what type of pitch it was or how it looked. First pitch fastball hit him in the back. The catcher set up outside, never moved to try and catch it. Clearly meant to hit him in that case. The catcher always gives it away.
  5. I don't hate Dan Johnson, but I don't like the idea of having a guy that can only pinch hit and play first base. Really cripples your bench because he can't do anything but hit. He COULD play LF or maybeee 3B but then you're s***ting on your late inning defense. To say Fuku can't hit it past the pitcher's mound is kind of unfair, he's hit better than yesterday and better than his numbers suggest...but he's clearly not accustomed to a bench role. I don't like getting rid of him just yet though, especially when the alternative is so one dimensional.
  6. I wonder if Kosuke has any trade value. The backup thing doesn't seem to be working out, but he's been a decent everyday player. Might be a throw-in or net you a real young guy for a team in need of a LF/RF
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ May 21, 2012 -> 09:10 AM) Week ahead: T: Walters vs Floyd W: Diamond vs Sale R: Pavano (maybe) vs Humber F: Gomez vs Danks S: Lowe vs Peavy S: Jimenez vs Floyd Probably Moore vs Sale next Monday. And Shields vs Humber Tuesday. Further out, it looks like Felix Hernandez vs Danks on June 1. I wouldn't be sad to see the Sox flip Peavy and Danks. The schedule sets up to skip somebody on June 4 (the off day), and then the final week before the break could have Peavy pitch Sunday before the break instead of Danks. I'd rather have Peavy get another start and miss the All Star Game. Wow, those are some good looking matchups for the White Sox. I really selfishly want to see Peavy bulldogging it at the All-Star game, honestly. I'm trying to jam 3 years of memories into this season, so I need an epic All-Star game from him. He's got to be in the running to start the game, right?
  8. What were your guys' reactions when it first happened? I was honestly pretty scared, especially after seeing guys like Derrick Rose suffer a terrible injury and even recalling Urlacher's disgusting injury in game 16. You would have thought it was my first born son getting hit with a baseball the way I reacted.
  9. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 20, 2012 -> 10:56 PM) He will only play 2012 with the Sox just like Fukedome his option will not be picked up.. I'd say that he already has a slightly better chance than Jake Peavy to be a 2013 White Sox. He just has to have a career average year and we'd probably keep him around.
  10. This happened.
  11. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 20, 2012 -> 10:24 PM) .500 right now is not that bad. Seems like they usually play pretty well between now and the ASG. If they can get 4-5 games up on .500 at the break, it will be a successful first half. They're going to fade in the stretch (not enough horsepower) but if they can finish .500 for the year, it's not a bad year. We don't fade down the stretch You must be unfamiliar with Mr. September, Brent Morel
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 20, 2012 -> 07:47 PM) http://www.suntimes.com/sports/cowley/1264...ont-get-it.html On the beaning incident, mostly filled with Jake Peavy quotes I can't argue with this article, because he didn't try to make a point.
  13. Yeah, tough road ahead for Indiana. If they win it now, I'll have a ton of respect.
  14. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 20, 2012 -> 04:47 PM) On my bandwagon I do not accept any of this...Why does this team "deserve" to be 60-60...come on Jake you've been one of my favorite posters this year. I'm not saying that we deserve to be...I'm just saying that even if we did, we could still be a playoff team.
  15. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 20, 2012 -> 04:22 PM) You got time? Very far from my area of expertise. I'm completely worthless when you need something other than me running my mouth
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ May 20, 2012 -> 04:39 PM) 70-50 the rest of the way. Let's do this. Yup. Even a team that deserves to be 60-60 can go on a run and be 70-50
  17. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 20, 2012 -> 03:38 PM) FWIW my friend says he met ODawg and said he was an asshole. sounds like your friend is a racist
  18. Reed gave up a couple there that I thought would be out if that mighty wind was so mighty. Lucked out throwing some bad pitches. but all's well that ends well! SWEEP!
  19. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 20, 2012 -> 04:08 PM) Rios hit for him. Let Rios pitch then.
  20. I'd leave Crain out there, at least one more hitter. He needs to get some reps so he can get his s*** together when the game is closer than this.
  21. Weird seeing Crain not featuring the slider
  22. I remember when we used to see Thornton sitting at 96-97
  23. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 20, 2012 -> 03:37 PM) Crain warming. We're going to need to see him get back on track soon...no day better than today. A Thornton-ish Thornton and a normal Jesse Crain along with the young guys Jones-Reed makes for a hell of a good back end of bullpen.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 20, 2012 -> 01:47 PM) Except the last month of last year where he crushed it. Then this spring where he started off strong again, only to have a back injury which has obliterated his swing. * I don't know that to be the case. If the back injury really happened within the last week or 2, then okay, he did suck for a month on his own, but it seems that wasn't the case. At this point, I'm just gonna have to chalk it up to competition. The worst part is during that month he still batted .224 (in before OPS omgzors!). I just don't see anything real encouraging as far as production and I don't see him as a particularly high upside player that deserves a bunch of chances. If I'm running the team, he has to put up some impressive numbers in the minors before I'm going to embarrass the two of us by having him on the Sox again. QUOTE (Cali @ May 20, 2012 -> 01:59 PM) Bit of an odd signing if only for the fact that O-Dog seems like one of those "Clubhouse Personalities" that don't mesh in the Sox world. A guy like Swish... I think that is a thing of the Ozzie era
