  1. That kid pitched a great game today. Pitched brilliantly and benefited from SEVERAL very hard outs.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2012 -> 09:33 PM) I've convinced myself that Hudson's really going to be a positive contributor to the offense. I'm excited to see him get a lot of at bats down in the order. Same. I'm interested in how someone could have offered Hudson more playing time than us, btw
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2012 -> 09:28 PM) I did no such thing. Many posters were complaining about women having equal opportunity. I pointed it out. If you think that makes them cavemen, then that's your assumption. That's pretty well played
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2012 -> 09:22 PM) If teams didn't want to trade significant prospects for him prior to the year, why would they want him now? I think Gavin is underrated on here, and don't want him dealt unless you can get something of significance back. I won't deal Gavin until we get something nice in return. Certainly not going to deal him when we're within a series of first place.
  5. ADA actually playing in on him!
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2012 -> 09:16 PM) That wasn't bad luck for Stewart against the Orioles. They were hitting him extremely hard, despite De Aza forgetting how to catch a fly ball. Disregarding error, bunt single, infield single
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 22, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) Stewart has incredible movement on his fastball every other game or so it seems...I am not sure what causes it, or what causes it not to move, but I sure hope we are trying to figure that out. Tough to have your sinker coming out of the bullpen
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 22, 2012 -> 09:02 PM) Okay, here's the thing. What's our likelihood of being an above .500 team next year with 2 of the following (Stewart/Axelrod/Doyle) as the back end of our rotation? All three of those guys are pretty similar, "command and control" guys who rely on movement, location and changing speeds. Right now, Molina and Castro are a LOT further away from making the big league rotation in 2013 than they were 2 months ago. Hernandez is the one guy who's stepped up consistently for the Barons, and he profiles the same way because of his lack of dominating stuff and an a strikeout pitch. Everyone relies on movement, location, and changing speeds - see Gavin Floyd for more details. I don't know what the likelihood is other than we seem to have several potential candidates for the rotation...Stewart/Axelrod/Doyle/Quintana/Castro/Molina/reclamation projects I would say we have backed off the projections on Molina at this point, but not Castro. Castro has actually showed some command, peripherals look much better this year. I'm excited for him. Anyways, I'm not eager to trade Floyd, but Stewart is by no means value-less as a potential MLB starter.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 22, 2012 -> 08:53 PM) Zach Stewart a few times out of the bullpen pitching well in MOSTLY meaningless situations....good luck with him as a starter. There's a reason he had a 7.88 ERA as a starter against every team NOT NAMED THE MINNESOTA TWINS last season. Not a fair way to evaluate given sample size. Stewart is younger and much more talented. Are you watching this game?
  10. Honestly don't know how to use the ignore feature.
  11. How many hard outs do we have to make? jesus
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 22, 2012 -> 08:43 PM) Trade Floyd, start Stewart. lol how conflicted would the board be if we did that! Love to get rid of Gavin, hate to keep Stewart
  13. After the first inning, Walters has pitched damn well. He has kept that very lively sinker down in the zone and has moved the ball around and changed speeds. Needed to take advantage in the first/not get jobbed on the 3-2 call for Dunn In other news, Stewart's stuff looks awesome tonight. Pounding the zone as well.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 22, 2012 -> 08:33 PM) Can anyone live with Beckham as a 650 OPS hitter at 2B? The top 8 2B in the AL are all at 680 OPS and above. Of the regulars, he's only ahead of Jermile Weeks of OAK. Then, including NL, you have Scutaro, Danny Espinosa, our newly-acquired Orlando Hudson and Richie Weeks. Close to Neil Walker and Brandon Phillips. So two Weeks in the bottom 3, lol. He's also a Gold Glove caliber defender, so that's got to be taken into consideration as well. All things considered, we have to hope he can be a 700-725 contributor there, 675 on the bottom end. What is Gordon's OPS this month? Projecting Gordon as our 2B of the future is predicated on the fact that we believe April wasn't the Gordon Beckham that we'll ever see again. We can all agree that if he puts up a .400 OPS every other month, he shouldn't be on the team. The debate isn't worth having unless you believe that he's turned a corner for good.
  15. Very frustrating that hitting one batter scared Gavin away from his 2 seamer and the whole inside half of the plate.
  16. 1. You have to throw to more than one spot. Hip high and outside is not the place. 2. Where the f*** is your curveball? It's horses*** that he is willing to lose with that piece of s*** cutter
  17. I still don't see Walters leaving this game with a pretty stat line
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ May 22, 2012 -> 07:59 PM) Another bad call there on 2-1 Redeemed on 3-2
  19. Another bad call there on 2-1
  20. Moving in and out, changing speeds, what is this?
  21. Welcome to Gavin's curveball
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 22, 2012 -> 07:51 PM) Alexei is Gavin's space cadet position player equal Can't blame him, he's from Pinar del Rio
