  1. Don't you think if he could have he would have?

Not necessarily. Last season was Willie's first full one in the league. I have a hard time believing someone in the mold of a player Harris is (speed, contact, etc...) can't do those type of things. IMO, Harris needs to play everyday to continue to work on those kinds of skills. There is no doubt that he needs to work on a lot of things to become a good player, but sticking him on the bench will not help him at all. I've got no problem with him batting 9th, it doesn't hurt having a speed guy 9th.

  2. Just cause willie is fast doesn't mean he's the type of player ozzie wants.  Willie can't run the bases, he can't steal a base, he can't bunt, he's really not much of an ozzieball player outside of his speed which he fails to use.

Don't say Willie can't do those things, he just hasn't. He's too young and talented to give up on. His role wasn't clearly defined until The Sox were out of it last year. Example- They traded for Roberto Alomar again.

  3. I am sorry but having Harris in center scares the heck out of me and I am not the only one. It seemed like whenever he was out there he would always take the wrong route to the ball. Not only that but it also seemed like the opposing team would always take an the extra bag with him out there. I don't think his arm is strong enough and he just isn't made for the OF.

Keep him on the bench or trade him. He did a decent job when starting 2nd at the start of the season but once Ozzie took him off in favor of Uribe and then stuck him back on there he tailed off.

I don't think that Willie Harris is that far off from being a serviceable CF. The guy has speed and that can make up for a lot of things. I'll agree with some of his judgments out there, but he was supposed to be strictly a 2b last year and didn't practice much in CF. As far as his arm goes, I cannot argue. There was a time when he was playing everyday last season he was over .300 in avg. All I am saying is that Willie Harris can be an excellent lead off hitter and is the type of player Ozzie wants. I want Vizquel and think Uribe should play every day. Why not try it?

  4. Here, IMO, is what The Sox should do. If they want to play little ball, then sign Vizquel. This guy is an excellent number 2 hitter. Make Uribe your 2B. Every time I watched Uribe this season, the more I liked him, even when he was struggling at the plate, he nver got cheated in an at bat, plus his defense is incredible. Keep Carlos, move Willie Harris to CF and make him be Juan Pierre, he's really not that far away. Rowand in RF. Trade Konerko for pitching and sign a bullpen guy, starter or whatever. Gload plays 1B. Keep crede at 3B and make Valdez your reserve INF. Uribe can give Crede a day off and so on. Carl Everett, if he's healthy gives The Sox a stud off the bench.

  5. I agree, never say f*** Maggs. But, there is a lot more here than what we are being told. Isn't it kind of funny that Maggs went out and signed Boras. Look what Boras did for Ivan Rodriguez. he got Detroit to give him a big contract despite injury concerns. I think Maggs knee is worse than what is being said and Maggs freaked and got the one agent who can get him a large deal somewhere.
