GAME THREAD 7-26-2005 SOX vs ROYALS
jphat007 replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2005 Season in Review
WTF is taking so long .It looks like the storms gone. Lets go. -
QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) That reminds me, what was Frank Thomas thinking by admitting to the world he is hurt again? Couldn't he and the Sox have waited until after the trade deadline to make such a big deal about it? That cost them some trade leverage IMO. Ozzie said tonight that they expect him to be back in 15 days, even with him going to get it checked again.

QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) In any case the whole curse thing is a moot point now. If the Sox are cursed with Oakland, so is the rest of the American league. Zito has a two hitter going tonight...again. It would be a great matchup methinks Yah, a great matchup for them. They are just the type of lineup that we hate to pitch against. Patient and smart. And obviously their pitchers are good. Their top two matches ours, and they have the best starter in the group with Harden. So if Oakland keeps winning, me might want to start rooting against LAA too.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) I'm not worried about that. Look -- if this team can't put a little bulls*** "curse" -- or, excuse, is what I should say -- behind them, and beat Oakland -- then they don't deserve a shot at the ALCS. Yes, but I'd much rather try to beat Boston or NY and not deserve than try to go up against Oakland and get crushed.

Please save some for the next two games. Cmon guys, sstart taking one for the team (read: me) and swing at everything.
-
That was clutch. You could FEEL a Royals rally coming...................Not so much.
-
QUOTE(kman @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) stop pressuring him man!
-
Cmon Jenks. I really want to go to bed.
-
Jenks seems like he gives up his fair share of hits which seems strange for a guy with his stuff. Granted, he gotten out of most every jam but one.
-
CARL SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TRADE HIM.
-
Haha. I don't believe in using up all your runs, but it's a good thing Lima's going tomorrow. Hopefully we can get more of the saem.
-
Nothing personal Scotty, but thank you Terrance! Ugh. Oaktown's up 6-0. They are good. And Sabathia sucks all of a sudden.
-
QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) I think it's safe to go to bed now I can't> I'm weird like that. I'd be lying in bed thinking that somehow the Royals came back and would have to get up and check the score at midnight. LOL
-
This is nuts. Absolutely nuts. Four of our players have 3 hits. Everybody else has 2, cept Carl, who has none.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) Willie up to .227 The climb continues. Gooch better watch out
-
Cmon guys. Save some for tomorrow. LOL> I might say that this is one of those games where we use up all of our runs, but then I see that we go against Jose Lima tomorrow.
-
Hurry this stuipd game up, I'm tired. Does anybody remember that 14-13 Saturday game from 6, 7, 8 years ago? I remember it, but nothing about it.
-
Nice try Willie.......
-
QUOTE(OilCan @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) True that...on both accounts!!! If Willy T doesn't set the table ala Scott Podsednik, then the 'stros have to scrape and scrap for runs. Fortunately, their hitting has been turning it around lately. Going back to your original quote, you're right...their starting rotation is great, their bullpen though is suspect. Harville and Qualls have great stuff, but seem to get shelled once in a while. Only Brad Lidge stands out...man, I think they miss Billy Wagner. And, I have to say, Jeff Bagwell....say what you want, but without one of the Killer Bs, the Stros have a big hill to climb. They did it last year...and the Red Sox did come from 3 down to win, so who knows???? I've been wrong before. Oh nevermind, time for bed. Oh I agree with you. They probably won't even make the playoffs. But I would hate to be that 2nd place NL team that had to play agianst Pettite, Clemens and Oswalt in that short series
-
That's just unfair for someone who has never seen him. Just unfair. It looks like a fastball but drops right off the table.
-
QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) Actually the Royals have been decent of late. We just OWN them!! I don't know how. Either we're really good or everybody else in the AL blows. LOL. I'll pick the first. The Royals just look like the bad news bears out there tonight.
-
Spiderman blows. I'm already tired of him with his last two ABs. Pitiful. Haha. I luvvvvvvvvv jD!
-
QUOTE(OilCan @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) But the Astros' offensive is offensive. No pun. Without Morgan Ensberg, Lance Berkman and Craig Biggio in their lineup, they are toast. If anyone may be a trader by July 31st, it'll be the 'Stros. They have a good leadoff guy in Taveras. He's around .300. Their 1-4 is really good. THe rest? not so much, but sufficient, kinda like us. And MAN do the ROyals suck.
-
QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) scolded by paulie for a hit Why was Paul pissed at the ball? what'd it do to him.
-
You know who I wouldn't want to face in the WS? The Astros. Clemens, Oswalt, and Pettitte would be NASTY in a short series.
