  1. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) It's a good thing Pods didn't need that many spring training ABs to get into shape. I don't know where we'd be without him. I got game 2 WS flashbacks on that throw he made early in the game. That guy shoulda been out by 15 feet, damn noodle arm. We need him to be healthy and stealing bases and on base though, it makes a difference big time.
  2. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) I'm liking that perspective. So am I. Just win tomorrow and win the series. If you win 2 outta 3 all year you start 100-50 after all. I just wish Freddy hadn't thrown an 88 mph fastball today, and I moreso wish Hawk and DJ weren't talking about how he's pitching with cunning and guile this year.
  3. QUOTE(GoTribe @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) Thanks to the support from the true fans seeing I am doing nothing wrong, take note: AbeFroman Tribe Box Score looks nice, everyone with a hit.... Boone and Blake, 8-9, are 8 for 8 on base today. Boone is a triple away from the cycle.... Tomorrow's pitching matchup sounds fantastic... I am excited! Ignore the haters, your doing nothing wrong. Always fun to discuss with rival fans who are civilized.
  4. I hate facing sinkerballers like Westbrook. If they keep the ball down like Westbrook did today, you have little chance to score more than 2 or 3 runs, no matter who you are. And tomorrow should be Lee vs. Count. Should be a good matchup. The thing that sucks about this series is we don't get to face the 4 or 5 of Cleveland in Byrd and Johnson, who IMO are why we will win the division and Cleveland won't.
  5. Wow if I had known somebody would say trade Garcia, I'd have avoided this thread alltogether.
  6. Mind you that Paulie has been robbed on diving plays by Boone 3 times in this series already. I hate that freaking guy.
  7. QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 03:09 PM) their payroll is 15 million Kinda hard to win with that budget. How many PLAYERS make more than that this year?
  8. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) unless you're playing the florida marlins Or Houston. Only reason they got that 1 run last night was a passed ball.
  9. The fact that AJ is having the Gator fight song played before his at bats is just classic.
  10. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) The Freddy thread's a bit more warranted. However, I guess I just have to accept it's the way you are. I've noticed from the CBB forum and here that you're very extreme on your opinions. You have no apprehension of throwing people under the bus when s*** hits the fan. I'm not saying you're a bad fan at all, but it appears you've got a little Peyton Manning in you. The Buehrle thread probably wasn't warranted, but it's something that bothred me all last year about him. I swear he probably had about a 2.2 ERA in all situations where we didn't have a 3 run lead. I guess it's hard to tell through the internet, I'm not even close to mad, just an observation. And my MLB opinions don't relate to my CBB ones at all, baseball doesn't have crooked refs (well umps in this case) and people who cheat in recruiting. And actually, the only reason I started that Buehrle thread was a few of my friends agreed with me about the Buehrle thing. Mind you, he's my favorite player on the team by far, so I worry because I care.
  11. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) Did anyone single out YOU? Damn. Have an inferiority complex, do you? It's just the general flow of the thread... not just you. Yea, FG is a concern. It's cool to be concerned. But there's just a few getting pissy about already it is all. Ehh not in this thread, but in the thread I started to discuss it yes. Guess I should go over there. And wouldn't it be a superiority complex if I thought everybody cared enough to single me out?
  12. Argh, the dreaded DP. Paulie obviously trying to go yard there and get us back in it though, can't blame him based on the circumstances.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 02:51 PM) A pitcher coming out 5 mph short for an outing to start off the year is a reason for concern, if not panic. What happens if Freddy takes another week to get his velocity back? A month? 2 months? Clearly, if he can't push 90+, he'll struggle to get people out, so we should at least wonder where those few MPH went IMO. I agree, and that's the question I asked in here and my thread. However discussion about things that aren't all positive are apparently banned since we won it all last year. And also despite the fact I'll be very pleased with 2 out of 3 in this series and picked us to win the division, i'm panicking and negative.
  14. Whoa, Westbrook sending a message there....or trying to at least.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 02:47 PM) Let's also not forget the WBC. I keep coming back to that...pitchers just aren't used to coming out on March 1st and trying to throw full speed even for 60 pitches. Most guys take their arm and start to build up their conditioning for the season. Maybe Freddy comes out in the WBC, throws a little harder a little earlier than usual...tires his arm out, and he winds up not being able to ease into the routine once he gets back into ST. That's my theory. That could be (and hopefully is) the case.
  16. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 02:38 PM) We've had the Buehrle thread Sunday night, and now the Freddy one today. I can't wait for the thread on Jose tomorrow. Freddy had nothing today on his fastball and is coming off a huge workload season where his velocity was down a bit as it was. And the Buehrle giving up 3 run leads thing is something that started a while ago and was seen as recent as his last start (game 2 of the World Series.) My apologies for bringing up discussion points, I'll make sure to be the eternal happy guy and start all encouraging threads from now on.
  17. I don't understand how everybody is panicking. Other than Freddy's lack of velocity, I don't see much to be concerned about this game and don't see anybody panicking. Apparently we should all be overjoyed with being down by half a dozen.
  18. Wow, great job by Boone to get outta that jam, DP by Hafner and whiffs Martinez. Encouraging to see him pull that off.
  19. Crede got eaten alive by that one. Uh oh, 1st and 2nd 0 out for Hafner.
  20. QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 02:39 PM) ... and anderson is gonna be vastly overated in the field this year. He takes both bad reads and routs... while he has jumps and speed to recover. He is far from the full package out there (defensively) Complete opposite of Rowand, who had good reads and routs, but didn't get great jumps or have great speed.
  21. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 02:38 PM) How far was Thome's? to right field? Longer than the one he hit Sunday, probably about 450 feet. With that said, I bet the measurement will end up being about 415 since those measurements are so screwed up. Ball landed about 4 rows from the top out in right center, probably straight up from where the 375 sign is in right center.
  22. Cintron is the only guy at the plate I'm concerned about right now. He looks quite lost, although Westbrook is throwing a very good game today.
  23. Yeah, and I kept hearing he wasn't 100 percent during spring too. I'm more worried because of all the innings he's thrown over the last several years, not everybody can just throw a million innings and not even blink like Buehrle does. That and the fact that I came into the season most worried about Freddy as it is since his fastball (even with the good year he had), which was 95 in Seattle, was about 91 all year last year.
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 02:32 PM) Wow, Brian Anderson would NOT have caught that. The ball was hit hard, and Mackowiak had no chance at it. It landed about a step and a half away from Mac, who stumbled a bit before the ball landed. I think Anderson catches it, but I agree that it was a poor pitch that was hit hard.
