6/6 Sox @ Yankees 6:05PM CT
I believe we cancelled one in Seattle during the really bad fires in 2021. God that was a trying time, COVID then fires.

Moncada 2023 Edition
So those same professionals that traded for him, failed to develop him, failed to ID his supposed "mental weakness" and then handed him a big contract are now covering their ass. That's what you're hearing dude.

Moncada 2023 Edition
Eh, everybody is tradeable, but the Sox aren't going to eat the money it would take. You just hope at some point he finds some consistent health and contact and returns to a 3-4 WAR player, not 1.5-2.5.

Cinci sucks and is rushing their prospects in an attempt to win 86 games. If that seems familiar it's because you watched the White Sox over the last 15 years.

Looking at the pitching matchups and with no Judge (who is carrying their offense) we should be looking to take the series. Of course, knowing that we'll probably get swept and go right back down to 12 under.

The odd man out is Sheets, I don't get it. Burger is the DH until proven otherwise. Sheets can take a seat. Sucks to have to play Eloy in the OF but is what it is. Moncada is our only above average defender in the IF. Until that changes he needs to be the everyday 3B. I get that nobody figured he'd only be a 2 WAR player, but is what it is. These glorified DH types like Vaughn and Sheets have no value defensively and they can sit more if they aren't hitting bombs on the regular.

Frank managed to hit 35 HR on one leg, how hard can it be!

6/6 Sox @ Yankees 6:05PM CT
are you kidding me? It was a crazy catch. 90% of guys would have just played it off the wall. It was in a huge spot in the game too as it would have put the tying run at 2nd with one out, instead it was two outs with a guy on 1st.

Swing at Strikes
Tell that to Juan Soto. The league prizes not making outs more than ever. Good players will get paid regardless of how.

I think his right foot hit the s%*# out of that little concrete rise. I doubt he plays this series. Even if it's badly bruised if he can't put much weight on it he's going to have a hard time batting.

I'd be fine banning all zoomer speak here. This is sorta a big game, FML, sucked back in again.

- Swing at Strikes
I remember when the Sox were getting a lot of feel good stories about the ways they supported their LA signings off the field: hiring chefs to cook the comfort food of home, paying for English lessons, getting them into good "foster" homes if necessary instead of just staying in apartments and so on. That stuff is good and all but what are we doing ON THE FIELD? We're bringing in all these guys that are raw, but we aren't developing them to have a plan at the plate. Part of that is tough love too. Robert admitting he doesn't watch any video is pretty bad. Who is in his ear is a mentor telling him that if he wants to just be better than good he needs to put the work in like everybody else? We need a guy like that in the org, for the American guys too, but mostly for the Latin guys as they have the most bat to ball talent, but struggle with pitch recognition and controlling the zone.- Swing at Strikes
The Sox have never even given lip service to vertical integration and any sort of top to bottom philosophy that they scout and then develop. The Mariners, who are the Sox' west coast doppelgänger in many ways, at least preach a "control the zone" mentality, even if they haven't been able to implement it well. From 1000ft away, it seems like the Rays really prize athletes that can play multiple positions and then they teach them to hit enough. The Sox under KW were similar, although obviously not as successful at the teaching them to hit part. The Dodgers? Well they have massive resources and it seems their MLB scouting is the best in the game by a large margin. If they acquire a vet or let one go, they almost always make the right decision. Anyways, the Sox need to clean house but for the millionth time written on this board, it won't happen until JR either dies or sells the team.- Yankees Injuries
Is Severino just a shell of himself now? It will be interesting to see, he's had a lot of injuries.- Yankees Injuries
Yea we might catch a break. Boone said Judge is day to day but from his tone it sounded like he might need a 10 day IL stint. Their pitching has been hit hard with injuries as you noted.- White Sox Burger Grannie Walk Off Sweep Winner !
There's more to it then his home and road splits. He's playing a decent 3B (only -2.1 runs below average as a defender) and has decent speed on the basepaths (.6 runs above average). He's a much better all around player than vaughn or eloy, and so far this year he's a much better hitter as well.- Padres Thread 2023
Reminds me of a frustrating OOTP season where your team is stacked on paper but then some s%*# goes wrong early, your division is absolutely loaded, and you recover a bit in mid summer but wind up with 85 wins or so and miss the playoffs by a few games. Not a bad season, but relative to expectations a complete bust.- Is there a falcon living/ nesting at GRF?
Does the falcon have large talons?- The Jarred Kelenic Appreciation Thread
Mariners are the west coast White Sox, so many parallels. Kelenic has like 10k in his last 20AB, down to a 131 wRC+, 1.5 fWAR. Regression is a b****, same for Julio.- White Sox Burger Grannie Walk Off Sweep Winner !
I don't know about attitude or love of the game but we need more guys like Jake that hit the piss out of the ball.- White Sox Burger Grannie Walk Off Sweep Winner !
Nice win. Keep it going.- 6/4 Sox vs. Tigers 1:10PM CT

Good try Eloy. Not exactly a Judge like effort. - Swing at Strikes
