  1. So you're saying that they are unmotivated and unfocused? Hmmmm, seems like some coaching staff issues. You can definitely hang 2b and RF on the front office, I'm ok with that part.
  2. Shitty managing took it from a 4-2 game with the White Sox having a 71% chance of winning to a 5-4 game.
  3. Yup. Then throw in "recognizing Lynn's splits in Houston" as another place where the White Sox failed to use leverage, and the White Sox should have taken at least 1 game in Houston and coaching gave that away. Today - I really would like to know how this would have gone had they gotten Tepera up (or Lynn), rather than Kopech, and went to Tepera against Correa when it was clear Rodon had given all he had. No guarantees, but this could have been a different game too.
  4. But at the very least, that's not a hole they have to fill with money. They lose Correa, but I see no reason why they can't be right back here next year, as good or better.
  5. I am fully convinced that with a better manager this is a 5 game series and I don't know who wins game 5.
  6. True, but he's one guy I still expected better from. Isn't ignoring that literally making excuses for the debacle in the dugout?
  7. So the Astros likely lose Correa this offseason, but 2 of their top 3 prospects can play SS, and another one is a catcher. On top of that, they'll have to sign him yes, but they'll probably be adding Verlander back next season for at least a chunk of the year. Tucker and Alvarez are still young and may well get better. Their pitching staff is young, and that young CF who got hurt today really looked tough. Are we just counting on them all getting hurt next year?
  8. How many pitchers were put in a position to fail in one series? Lynn - should never have pitched in Houston in the first place. Lynn - left in too long Crochet - used in back to back games for completely bizarre reasons Bummer - got tons of ground balls, defensive positioning was terrible. Rodon - left in too long. Kopech - put into a game where he was literally not supposed to pitch because of the high workload 2 days ago. I will give you Kimbrel was awful.
  9. He specifically pushed them backwards all series. Pitching usage, positioning, the attitude and lack of HFA coming into it, all of these are major roadblocks.
  10. Well, Game 1 was a pitcher who we know sucks in Houston but is ok against them on the road so we pitched him in Houston and were astonished he sucked. Game 4 was a pitcher we knew only had so much in the tank, so we waited until he loaded the bases then left him in. Then went to the pitcher we said we weren't going to use because he worked hard on Sunday. And throughout all of that, we have defensive positioning giving them baserunners.
  11. Watch the Red Sox against these guys. I doubt you're going to see a starter last 5+ the whole series, maybe from both teams. A lot of them will last 3 or 4 innings and will be pulled before they're allowed to break. The lineups are too good. You tell your guy to empty the tank the first 3 or 4 innings and that you will pull him when he gets into trouble. Note how different that has been from the White Sox, who only pulled 1 starter with the lead all series (Giolito - and in that case they brought in a guy who was bound to fail!)
  12. Honestly, they're not this much better, the White Sox coaching staff is making them look better.
  13. TBH, unless this team turns into a juggernaut the likes of which we haven't seen in a decade or two, our coaching disadvantage will cost us next October too.
  14. He would have done it last year if he had any.
  15. My guess - they're going to come out talking positively about this season and how much they overcame, and the only things that will change in terms of staff will be from people who want to leave on their own, or that LaRussa decided he wanted gone.
  16. The Red Sox and their coach Alex Cora?
  17. I'm gonna stretch back here a bit and go with Youkilis?
  18. I think the game plan might be to swing early.
