  1. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 17, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) I think these are amendments which are going into the overall immigration bill working its way through the Senate. I think once this goes to conference we'll get a guest worker program, more fencing and a little less amnesty. Ok, then the big questions will be whether or not Frist ever allows the actual bill to come up to a vote and what happens in Conference, which has been where the Republicans have really done a lot of their nasty stuff the last few years. There and in the middle of the night, take your pick.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ May 17, 2006 -> 06:43 PM) Like I said, my source sees more Durham games than anyone. Upton is amazingly bad with the glove. Delmon Young likely would have come up later in this season, but now they'd look like assholes if they called him up to the majors in the next few months. Tampa's biggest issue was not trading some of their players when they could have gotten good value, and they held out for ridiculous offers. There you have it. There's no reason on Earth why they didn't trade Aubrey Huff last season, for example.
  3. QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 17, 2006 -> 06:43 PM) Yep. It's all about the $$$$$$$. More LeBron = more $$$$$$$$$ The worst possible thing for the NBA $ wise would be another Detroit/San Antonio finals.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 17, 2006 -> 06:40 PM) Considering how bad this team has been for so long, we really should have seen Delmon Young by now and really what is the reason for having Lugo at SS. Even if Upton is f***ing brutal with the glove he could most definately produce for them at SS. Well, that won't be happening for a while now will it? Anywho...the move by the D-Rays actually makes some sense. If you'r enever going to be able to afford to hold onto free agents, you should stockpile your rookies in AAA, keep getting top draft picks, and then unleash them all within a year or two. That way you try to make your team as good as it can be before you start losing them all to FA.
  5. f***ING CORPSEBALL! Jon Garland sucks! All baseball games are decided in the first 3 innings! Oh I'm sorry, I've been in another rom for like an hour, did anything change?
  6. Come on Jon, do not walk the guy hitting .108 in May.
  7. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 17, 2006 -> 05:06 PM) Hmm, any reason for Crede and BA to be out? Or is it just their off night? Off night.

  9. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 17, 2006 -> 05:01 PM) Yah its a keeper, I think I've got to keep Liriano. Tempted to deal Zito though. The rest of my staff is: Buehrle, Lackey, King Felix, Freddy, Brandon Webb plus Liriano and Zito. Relievers are Jenks and Chad Cordero Zito will probably wind up with a big money team that scores a lot of runs and is from a city who's initials are NY next year, if wins are useful compared with other stats.
  10. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 17, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) Like scoring 7 runs yesterday, oh yeah that's corpseball alright. If we don't average 2.3 runs per inning, with a variance of plus or minus .7 runs, it's corpseball.
  11. 35 pitches, 24 strikes for Garland through 3. 35 pitches, 26 strikes for McClung through 3.
  12. The sad thing? The Sox will probably put up another 5 spot in one of these innings, and then the next day, 3/4 of the game thread will be pissed off about why we haven't scored 8 more in the first 2 innings.
  13. Uribe really doesn't need help striking out. No more hit & runs with Uribe.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ May 17, 2006 -> 04:42 PM) And it just so happened to be after the 2004 season????? Wow, what a coincidence!
  15. Pregame mullet parade and complimentary haircuts on the concourse? Man, if my hair was longer than 1/2", I'd be so game.
  16. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 17, 2006 -> 04:32 PM) Haha my bad, I won't give my unneeded PbP anymore. Seriously, go ahead. I was just amazed at how long it took for that play to register out here. The only time it's annoying is if someone hits a walk-off.
  17. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 17, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) RACK EM UP HELL YEAH JON God, you're getting the game like 20 seconds before me. Wow. 11 pitches, 8 strikes for Garland in the first.
  18. Only so much you can do with a guy like that.
  19. Nationals Manager and Hall of Famer Frank Robinson missed tonight's game with the Cubs due to back spasms. Dustin Hermanson will coach in his place. Roger Clemens has stepped up his workouts, and could be ready to pitch in about 3 weeks. J.J. Hardy has been placed on the 15 day DL by the Brew Crew. Mike Lieberthal has a small fracture in his knee and will miss about 2 weeks. Tomorrow = Lima Time! I will take bets about how many home runs Pujols will wind up with tomorrow. Kyle Davies may hit the DL after straining his groin while pitching for the Braves on Monday.
  20. You know, one of these days, Thome ought to try to lay down a bunt into that shift. Ortiz did it a few weeks ago & wound up on first.
  21. QUOTE(Jimbo @ May 17, 2006 -> 04:17 PM) is it me or is iguchi slumping a little bit. It's not you. We're almost down to 2 .300 hitters in our lineup today (and 1 .400 hitter, but I'm ignoring him)
  22. Aren't there usually a lot more day games on Wednesdays than there were today?
