  1. C'Mon Mark, time for one of them patented ground balls.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) Yep, besides for that first inning of the first series, none of Rowand's catches were truly sensational catches. Sure, he got very good jumps and caught the ball. However, I'd guess that almost any CF not named Bernie would have caught a majority of those fly balls. The Seattle catch basically won the Sox the game. I think that there's very few CF's who would have made all those plays...guys named Edmunds, Jones, a healthy Hunter come to mind, but other than that I think a lot of them would have fallen and been taken on 1-2 hops.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) Am I the only one who is finding it amusing how much press Rowand has received for his defense in NY, even though his catch vs Seattle was much more important in the scheme of things? Nope. And I don't think anything from NY was his best work of the year either. Thank Goodness we don't have a biased media.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) Do you agree with my statement though? Absolutely...Uribe or Crede gets hot and this team would be nearly unstoppable. Pods with the deep fly out to Damon.
  5. GOOD WORK JUAN! C'Mon Pods, let's make this 3/3. If nothing else, just make Wells work...I want a shot at that Boston Bullpen.
  6. Just remember everyone...Boston is the best offense in baseball, they're going to score runs. We're the best pitching in baseball...we just have to hope we can contain them.
  7. Ground out to Iguchi, inning over. Ramirez doesn't drive in the guy from 2nd. Historic day.
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 05:08 PM) Burly doesn't like Boston. Or Oakland. I think this inning is punishment for your spelling of his name. I blame you!
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) These Red Sox hitters have a fantastic approach against Buehrle. How many guys do these hitters have a bad approach against?
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) I dislike that guy a ton. I like him plenty...I just despise it when my team has to face him.
  11. Uh-oh, I don't like 2nd and 3rd with this guy coming up. Eek.
  12. Farmer's score update is about 2 innigns behind, he just told us how the Devil Rays and Indians are tied 3-3.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) No leadoff walks! Leadoff base hit.
  14. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) Red Sox hitters are stepping out on Buehrle an awful lot, maybe he needs to throw them a little chin music B) Of course they are...this is a team that likes to slow the game down almost as much as Oakland.
  15. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) We didn't score that inning, but we worked Wells, having some solid ABs, and have his pitch count up to 57. At this rate, he'll be lucky to go 6, maybe even 5. Salivating over that Red Sox bullpen...3rd worst bulpen ERA in the big leagues....
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) He was crushing that slow stuff a month ago. He's getting too far out in front, and even when he makes good contact, he has nothing behind his swing. I'd much rather have him hit a slump in August than in October
  17. QUOTE(Stocking @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) i believe those 5 runs are all unearned too Gameday shows 4 earned runs for Westbrook right now (now 6-3)
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) Ugh, shut up Chris Berman. Actually I grabbed that one from Nancy Faust (she played the song when he hit one day and it just stuck)
  19. 5-3 Tampa Bay on a single by (Anything you) Cantu (I Cantu better)
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) Here's a question I was thinking about today: How many times have one of the Sox outfielders thrown someone out at home this year? There's nothing that really comes to mind. Help? I can immediately think of one at Oakland earlier this year where we actually had a guy out at home but the ump called him safe.
  21. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) Now 3-3, bases loaded, nobody out. Good inning Buerhle. Now 1 out, same situation.
  22. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) Yep. We were wrong about that one. Note to self...whenever those 2 agree on something...immediately disagree.
